The funny thing is that these people get stereotyped as being stupid because of the more outlandish examples (city folks commit the vast majority of violent crimes, but we don't stereotype them as criminals), but in my experience, they're much smarter overall and have a much wider field of practical knowledge. City folks can't change a tire with a 4 year mechanical engineering degree, but the country folks they call dumb can build engines from scratch, understanding all of the sophisticated nuances of the engineering through nothing but observation. They also have a hell of a lot more fun. I've spent a lot of time with both, and I much prefer the country folks.

I felt it was a lost cause, until a man, in a wheelchair, who'd just got out of his car and was on the footpath (sidewalk), waving his arms and making strange noises, directed at our dog. Well, the terrier sat down straight in front of the man, and just stared at him. I couldn't thank him enough for what he did, but I asked, "How did you get the dog to stop?!" The man replied, "I lived in Canada for some years. They told me that this is how you scare off bears, so I thought I'd give it a try (with the terrier)" The dog is still alive today because of that man's actions. What can I say.. Thanks, Canada.
