@@williamr1088 Yes she was but that was a different kind of personality she had to portray. Here she was given the chance to cut it up and play the range of emotions. I do think when the writers got her. They intentionally wrote all the stuff that makes us love her character.

@@RobertWilke Very true. It's kinda hard to say if Vala was actually a well written character (hell of a lot of stereotyping going on with her etc.), but her stuff definitely does let Claudia shine as an actor.

@@RobertWilke She got to have a bit of fun in that Farscape episode where she played a Southern Belle. Watching her trying to pull off a Southern accent was a tad cringe but pretty hilarious at the same time.

I love how she waves her hand to herself at the beginning of the recording. There's something cute and sad at the same time, with the gesture and her face... It seems that she's happy that someone calls her "gorgeous", like a very nice aunt would do.

Yeah, this was a big, awesome surprise. I mean, prior to playing Vala, I'd only seen Claudia Black play serious, badass roles. Seeing Aeryn Sun sheepishly wave at herself on video was something I never knew I needed till it happened.

I always wondered about that. "Fire and Water" and "Cursed" both imply he's paid as a 'consultant' for the SGC, but when on Atlantis he almost suggests getting paid more than McKay (maybe he just ignored the question)

@@andrewmalinowski6673 Consultants on that level are paid very well, better than being on military payroll. Daniel's probably the highest paid person at the SGC tbh.

@@anorreed It often happens that some people with a specialization thats in hight demand, finish their service or retire and are hired back as a consultant - at 4-5 times they pay.

It would have been great if SG1 orbach continuation series with Vala still as one of the main cast, I'd love to see her character evolution mature. Much like how Daniel went from a socially awkward nerd to a God defying ass kicking nerd.

Now here comes the kicker. When this episode was made there was zero clue that only about two decades later we would have the technology that could totally fake such a recording. With AI Deep Fakes we can fake face and voice too. We do not need any fancy alien technology to do that. A few more years and Star Trek's data as well as I, Robot's Sonny (I hope I spelled correctly) will be real too. It is remarkable how massive the jump in AI technology was once it made its step from handwritten code to neuromorphic learning.

It would have been hilarious and downright fantastic if they could have had say Scorpius come through the gate. He'd say something to both Ben and Claudia to the affect of " You two remind me of people I know". This way they could connect the SG verse and Farscape Verse together.
