They are cute and fun. Just remember they will need a lot of care over 10 to 15 years. Be sure you, or the person you are giving a cat to, are ready for the responsibility . The world is sadly full of unwanted abandoned pets, don't let that happen to the pet you choose or give.

My sister and my aunt blindfolded me for my birthday and said we were going somewhere special,and they drove me to the Humane Society. Then they took off the blindfold and said they would pay for the adoption, and all the supplies for me to pick out whatever kitten I wanted. I cried with happiness!

18 years ago on Christmas morning I was given a box and told to open it immediately, out popped 2 little kitties, sisters from the same liter. I had just lost 2 cats that year. One of the girls passed a few months ago and her sister is still with me, 18 years old and going strong 💞😻

Our most sacred memory of cats was when our female cat insisted that we participate in the birth of her first litter of kittens. She wouldn’t settle until my Wife and I were there to help, and help her we did. She ended up having 3 litters and we helped her with all of them. We were totally involved in the everyday care of the kittens, at her insistence. The hardest part was allowing the kittens to go to their new homes, it was heartbreaking because most of the kittens found their way onto our bed during the night and slept with us. Cats will save your life.

My mom surprised me for my 16th birthday with this kitten I had wanted so badly, an all white turkish angora with one blue eye and one green. My beloved Misha. I had her for 16 years (half my life when I lost her) getting her was one of the happiest moments of my life and losing her was one of the hardest. She was with me through everything, I was never alone, a piece of my identity was "Kate and Misha" I have been gifted by fate, another pair of babies to look after now, a stray mama cat gave birth on my fiancé's door step and now I have an adorable brother and sister pair. (The rest of the litter and mama cat were found good loving homes who are friends of ours who love cats, so mama struck gold picking our doorstep lol)

It wasn't a gift, but I was so surprised one day to see my mom bring a kitten into the livingroom. It belonged to my grandparents and somehow hitched a ride on Grandpa's car to our yard. Thought to keep an eye on it until he returned. We instantly fell in love, later asking if we could keep it. He was such a good kitty. Lived with us for 10 years.

Pets can make the best gifts. My kids gave me a kitten for my birthday. For 20 years he was so closely bonded to me, slept in my pillow opposite my husband, was in my lap any time i didn't have a kid in my lap. It's been one of my best presents

What's better than getting a kitten? Getting two kittens! We have loved our kittens for 13.5 years. They are senior citizen gentlemen now, but we love them just the same.

The beautiful thing is that they are adopted after being abandoned and that now they are going to receive all the love they deserve, not buying animals of any kind ❤️

This is the best feel good video I've found today. Not that I feel bad which I don't as I adopted a nine month old black kitty two months ago and he's fitting in fine. What's so satisfying is knowing these kitties have great homes and will be loved. Some are couples which are likely siblings that needed to be adopted together.

I love my fur babies. I have two, Keanu and Kithicore. One is a rag doll/tuxedo mix and the other a tonk. I love them with all my heart. I had another rag doll/tuxedo mix, his name was Caesar, but he sadly passed from old age/kidney failure at 17 yrs old a couple years ago. I miss him terribly, we were like one person him and I, having raised him since he was only a few months old.

Don't remember ever as a gift. But, a VERY appropriate one. I can't repeat enough how VERY cool I think cats are.

As nice as it seems, gifting a kitten, puppy, or any animal can have a really bad outcome. Make sure that the recipient really does want a new critter and that they are equipped and capable of properly caring for it. If giving a cat, good idea to also include a starter kit (litter, litter box, a weeks supply of food). For a dog, a collar, lead, and food. Too many gift animals end up in shelters.

It was 2018 and all I wanted for Christmas was a kitten; my own kitten. We had 4 cats at the time, but none of them were 100% mine. (Had, because we have 6 now.) So it was Christmas and I was in the middle of opening up presents for the other cats, and suddenly, we got a knock on the door as two strangers started to come in. Me being half asleep, I had no idea what was going on and was confused the entire time. I wondered what they were doing in my house and they were there to drop off this pet carrier my mom set up. Out came a beautiful, orange tabby with a Christmas collar, walking out of his carrier and getting to see his new home for the first time. I was in a state of shock- I had no words for receiving the best present of my life. He was definitely a brave and curious kitten, didn't run and hide, he went to the presents and snuggled with everyone in the house, especially me. I named him Fubuki; he was about 6 months old. Today he is 4 years old, and my best friend in the entire world. And this year, I found out he was born on June 22nd of 2018. So, I did everything I could to give him an awesome party for the other years I missed because I love him so much.

For the first time in my life, I cried tears of joy when I found out I would have two kittens. One day, I was getting off the bus from school (junior high), and was surprised to see my mother and father in the car, waiting for my little brother and I. They picked us up and told us we would be kittysitting for their friend for a little while, two weeks to be exact. We went to pick the kittens up then headed for Walmart. They said we needed to pick up supplies. To my brother, that made sense, but to me, I had to wonder why the owner wouldn't send along the supplies. I asked my parents, but they refused to answer until we were done shopping. They broke the news that we would be keeping them forever. In the car, on the way home, I held a kitten and cried near the whole time, for once actual happy tears. This was the best thing that had ever happened to me. That's the story of my precious tabby brothers, Pete and Chase. (Yes, like Pete the Cat. Thank my little brother.)

I see a lot of videos like this. Very emotional/cute and everything but before you spring a surprise pet on someone, make sure they want it. Make sure they're able to care for it and especially if they're elderly... make sure the care of the pet's going to be provided for if they pass before the pet does. Great grandma might enjoy the comfort of the kitten or puppy but someone has to clean up after them, someone has to walk the dog, and both will probably outlive her.

On behalf of all the poor shelter animals that will be euthanized because they were given as Christmas gifts to people who couldn’t or didn’t ask for such a gift, plz make sure if you get an animal for someone it’s something they asked for first.
