Für Elise: one of the most famous pieces by composer Ludwig Van Beethoven. This was a pivotal piece of my piano career and this video breaks down the first section of the piece nicknamed as Für Elise.
With any piece, I like to learn hands separate first in order to ensure that I am playing the correct notes with fingers that make sense. In this video, I show just that.
I begin by playing the piece in its entirety, hands together.
Next, I show the right hand (melody) part; going over the notes and fingering.
After the right hand, I go over the left hand. Left hand acts as an accompaniment to the right hand melody. I go over the 4 chords that left hand uses throughout the piece. These chords provide a beautiful harmonic foundation and creates forward motion with how the chords are presented (arpeggiated).
I hope you enjoy learning Für Elise as much as I enjoyed putting together this video!

I have never been interested in playing any sort of instrument until about a month ago. Tomorrow I am picking up a Roland RD-2000 with Rolands 200 watt amp and Rolands RPU-3 foot switch pedal and headphones. Tomorrow will be my first time touching keys. I want to master the piano over the rest of my life and I turn 60 in one month. Long story short, my wife had 12 years of lessons and played piano for the church for 25 yrs. I am not going to tell her and will surprise her when I sit down to her piano and play “Fur Elise”. Wish me luck.

@@dezcormedia BTW, I’m putting the piano in my home office and only playing it with the amp when she is not home otherwise it will be with headphones. She never comes into my office because it’s far enough away from the central part of the house and is over the garage. She’s going to freak. 😂👍

Also, she is 60 and started playing when she was 4 yrs old. So, she’s pretty much a pro.

I picked it up today. 😁 The sales guy talked me out of the Roland KC 600. He said it’s overkill for me. So, I ended up getting the Roland KC 80. It’s perfect. 👍 Thank you for your teaching.

Great video. I always thought that Fur Elise would be super hard. Thanks for breaking it down for us. Question, if you are on "E" and go down a half step, isn't that a D flat? Rather than a D sharp.
@dezcormedia
@dezcormedia 8 күн бұрын
Hi! Great question. When you go down a half step (the black key immediately to the left) from "E", that key is called either E flat or D sharp. Every black key on the piano has two names. In this context, I call it D sharp because of how the music keeps going back up to E. Sharps suggest an upward motion, whereas flats would pull you downward. I hope that makes sense? Thanks for the question! If you have any others, feel free to send them our way! :)
