I've had a Little Jane for a couple years. It's much easier to assemble than suggested here. And it's not just for airline travelers. Even on car trips it's nice to not have to lug around a full size guitar.

Just incredible - blew me away when I first saw one and YES - it is in tune when you put it together! Furch voices every one of their tops during construction, hence the outstanding sound. I have two of their full size guitars - they are my main instruments and blow anything that I have ever owned or played from Martin or Taylor.

I have a Little Jane with Alpine spruce and Cocobolo. Great sounding little guitar. At home I leave it in a parlor guitar hard case mainly to keep it properly hydrated. No worries that way about snapping strings, but I have had no problems with putting it together or taking it apart.👍😉
@maxhammer4067
@maxhammer4067 Жыл бұрын
I had a little problem the strings somehow got tangled and I dropped the neck on the body trying to untangle it and even though it was a little drop from about 5 inches it left a nasty chip in the wood, the wood of the body is very thin and fragile, lesson learned if it gets tangled again ill just re string in insted of bumbling around

Furch attended a couple of the D/FW guitar shows prior to COVID and I had an opportunity to check it out first hand. I think the ingenuity and quality is 100%.

Why? A pilot can take what he wants and doesn't have the passengers restrictions on baggage,makes no sense

I’m a pilot, it’s not about the airline restrictions, we have to move around airports and hotels every day and traveling light makes a huge difference. I can’t imagine carrying a full size guitar with me around all day, but this compact bag is much more doable.

My wife and I are motorcycle tourers. Even though we do pull a small trailer space is at a premium. I generally carry a Yamaha Guitalele in the trailer. It’s not the best but it is small and almost indestructible and gives me a way to get in a little practice. I love this Little Jane idea. I’ll definitely have to give one a try!
@FurchGuitarsOfficial
@FurchGuitarsOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Actually, the motorcycle is behind the Little Jane's story. Frantisek Furch loves Harleys. As he had a troubles to transport the guitars there, he came up with this model (2010) 😉 The guitar is named after his youngest daughter Jane. Greetings!

It is easy to mount/dismount and actually has a nice full tone. I love it! Two things that I am not so fond of: too much resonance and echo from the higher strings and sounding a bit metallic.

Great acoustic demo, but why not also demo the pickup tone? That‘s also very relevant, especially for those of us who would also use such a guitar for playing live/busking. That said, I have a (custom-made!) Brunner Guitar (Outdoor Guitar) made by the master, himself, and it has a very similar look and feel (and a somewhat easier neck attachment). It‘s also a cedar top, and the sound is kinda similar. One thing I do miss on it - as on the Furch Little Jane - is the spruce sparkle I prefer for a lot of stuff. But it‘s of course always a trade-off between warmth and responsiveness (esp. on a small-body guitar) and percusiveness/shimmer. Anyhow, the Little Jane is a worthy contender! And since the birth of my twin boys a few months ago, my Brunner (Outdoor) Guitar is available here in Germany, just in case anybody‘s interested. ;-)😊

I have intentionally purchased TSA-approved locks, and invariably found part of the latch broken off, when they should be able to open the lock with a little pair of bolt cutters (smaller than the Warm Audio UA-47 mic included in the Little Joe, excuse me, Little Jane bundle). No wonder this sounds so good, with solid AA-grade top, back, and sides (cedar/African mahogany) and open-pore finish! Thanks, it's time to head to the Ponderosa... ( or fir, maple, redwood, koa, spruce, she oak, blackwood...)

I really like it!, but I own a GS Mini which is my favorite guitar out of 7 others I own. The only way I would justify buying this one is if my job would require me to travel a lot, which I don’t anymore after 15 years of practically living in an airport. Other than that, the GS mini is an amazing guitar and I can bring it with me on local road trips anytime without issues

I realize that your question is a year old and that you've probably decided for yourself by now, but in case you're still wondering I would have to say that few good sounding guitars are as compact as this. Even when my car is packed to bursting there is always a spot I can safely put my Little Jane. Having said that, it is a solid wood guitar that you have to look after. It won't survive temperatures that you wouldn't enjoy - no solid wood guitar would. You have to keep it humidified in the dry months, too.

No worries. I've had mine 4 years and no issues. The mechanism isn't tricky or fragile and the workmanship is excellent. What people like to say about staying in tune after disassembly is not my experience; the strings relax and are often a bit sharp after reassembly, but not by a lot.

Have you guys seen the Furch robots? They have a precision laser that cut their tops and a robot that shapes their necks? Here it is... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otKqhrCfmqvImYU.html Also, I can tell you, after 15 years of seeing what goes on in a commercial airline cockpit (American), it would be a major problem for a pilot to play their guitar mid-flight, as long as the other pilot is wearing an oxygen mask. However, most would wait until they land because they don't want to appear unprofessional. Plus, with this Little Jane model, they simply cannot risk one of the strings breaking when assembling it, as it could injure their near-perfect vision.

I hate to say it (as I love my Furch and was planning to get a little Jane), it sounded a little buzzy and twangy. Perhaps it needs a setup, but I don’t know how much you can set up a guitar that you frequently disassemble.

It has a zero fret instead of a nut so you can't adjust there. But it does come with a two way truss rod and a shim for the saddle. The action on mine was a bit low so I've learned to play a tad less aggressively (I've not put the shim in or done any truss rod adjustment). Still a great little travel guitar.
