@@rovinggnome143 The Octopus. Octoboss wears a pitch black diving suit and the horns on his helmet look like tentacles. His personal kite has 8 long strands flowing behind it to make it look like an octopus. A tactic his men utilize is using explosives to blind their target like how an octopus uses ink to blind predators. Plus, his gimmick of flying could be seen as "swimming through the air"

Up until that point I had my regular Mad Max watching face on, mouth open with glaring eyes, and then when the guy got on the skates and went up with the parachute I just started grinning from ear to ear.

Yeah true, he could have used some arial combat to take some parts of the Citadel. What a goofball. And I agree, that was an awesome moment that really opened up the scene

Hard agree, I remember watching it and seeing the kite thinking, the hell is that thing. Terrifying moment as it was closer every cutaway. Noticed it floating around Dementus' camp during the opening after my second watch too.

It felt like something out of a fantasy movie for a brief moment like a giant octopus monster attacking the war rig. Some fantasmagoric vision that myths are made of.

That was excellent cinematography but I think they could've made its "reveal" a little more impactful. Like Jack just looks at it for a few seconds before Octoboss starts shooting and hovering in the exact same position.

I personally loved the story, but loads of the effects in this movie simply don't look good. I think some of the shots here actually look quite awful. There's a reason so many are complaining about the "bad cgi" in this film, because it's a genuine critique that affects the overall viewing experience.

to me it's simply because its really hard to top fury road, also i think fury road got much more practical effect, as well as the chase scenes escalation is better... kinda suck they made 40 days war into slides, making this scene as the peak action sequence

I'm fairly certain that was intentional. The bad guys try (and in this case, succeed) to take over a gas refinery. The Mortifliers are what you get is the Gyro Captain was a part of Humungus' group. You even got a guy (cut from this clip) who got set on fire and put it out with a bottle of piss.

I feel some of the movie stunts are more cgi heavy by design, his old cinematographer retired and the new one didn't help. Like the hangglider was always going to be cgi it's too dangerous and difficult to film for non cgi effects.

I read that Octoboss' flying bike was supposed to be practical, they even had successful tests with the kite and bike, but Miller opted for CGI. Probably to avoid serious damages.

​@@queekheadtaker7327 Have to remember 70% 0f Fury Road was shot in motion with moving vehicles and focused on live action. This was more story based and the cgi somehow fits the story. Probably cheaper to do it cgi then hire a bunch of stunt men. I really don't know what I'm talking about at this point 🙃

I believe the Citadel had its best engineers supervise the building of this war rig and provided them with the best gears and technology available. But they couldn't repair it after the war against Dementus. Also, the person I believe was the engineer in chief probably died during the fight against the Octoboss (I think it's the guy who gets partially burnt and has just enough time to give Furiosa a tube before going under the rig). After that, maybe they were out of fine material and went for something practical but crude, like the war rig from Fury Road. I think it fits one the saga's theme. By the end of Immortan's reign, humanity is slowly decaying: no more shiny vehicles, no more giant robot arms. Human technology can't improve anymore, just loot, hijack, re-use and preserve as much as possible.

For defense, Octoboss kept intercepting the smaller rigs, so this newly built one was made with every sort of defense in mind. As you see in the film, they're used to get in the way of bikers, to pick them up, and to even intercept one of the mortiflyers.

Yeah that's a bit of a problem in this movie. I think it's a great film over all but the effects can be so bad at times that it took me out of the movie completely

nahhh, is the lighting and the cepia filter is not as noticeable as in fury road also the sky, the sky in fury road was a sea green, in this one it is an intense light blue, not to mention the absence of clouds that we saw in the first movie.
