In today’s tutorial, I will be using Iron Orchid Designs' new transfer from their spring release. Join me as I transform this piece of furniture into a vintage art piece. At first, I was hesitant about the style of the furniture, but after a closer look, I decided a restoration job wouldn't suffice. Instead, I opted for a vintage makeover using Annie Sloan satin paint to preserve the retro feel on the outside. The front drawers were adorned with chalk paint and transfers, showcasing the intricate design of the transfer. You managed to merge a classic floral image with this MCM piece and it is beautiful! I love how you did your thing creating the subtle background for this lovely image transfer and how you did your thing to apply it to create this composition! I agree that MCM furniture pieces look great unpainted but more importantly, it is necessary to do what you can to save these lovelies from the burn pile and you gave this cutie another life!

Wow! This is just glorious. I love the tiger stripe wood of MCM furniture. But when it’s damaged, there is not much else to do other than paint or burn pile. Hi Jonathon, First of all, welcome back. I missed your tutorials. Your MCM piece looks so much better after your transformation. It looks sleek but vintage too. The blended colours combination look beautiful in the background of the transfer. You amazed us once again, its beautiful. But, just one little request please. Can we have a part 2 of this tutorial in normal motion, just showing you doing your hand painting back ground, and how you cut the transfer in small pieces and applyed it to make it fit your own design. Stunning! I'm personaly not much for retro/modern furniture, but what you did with this piece is magnificent and I love the painted muted faint image suggestion on the lower drawers before applying the paint transfer, and how you positioned the transfers to create the lovely composition overall. It is very soothing and what a wonderful way to bring this piece to life.

I have an Early American Chest on Chest so am dying to see how you remake your chest on chest (a stupid term but that is what the salesman explained to me when I was 13 in 1959. Edit: That chest is PHENOMENAL. You gave me so many ideas. I live with my daughter and SIL so unfortunately the decal would be too busy for the tiny space in which I live. . .but by carefully cutting of decal, I could create corner interest on the sides and front after I pastel paint the chest but also work on creating the type of interest with the speckling of the finish. Then paint the drawer pulls matte black. This is my ‘fini’ piece. And because of you, it will be great.

Jonathon, oh my. You are truly an artist! First, I do love everything you did to this MCM piece. I especially love the top two drawers! Spectacular IMO. The contrast of the black with color is also so unexpected, and lovely. I must say, though the transfers are beautifully displayed, I personally prefer your painting underneath.
