Fursa is the Swahili word for opportunity. Together with Amani Racing, we are supporting athletes from East Africa with the opportunity to race against the top gravel riders in the World. Four elite cyclists have been chosen to come to the US and race SBT GRVL, BWR Asheville & Vermont Overland developing new pathways for athletes from East Africa to show their full potential.

Epic video, great project and race! So happy to see a high quality video of this event come out!! I knew of the event, but wondered how/if I would ever see such a production like this one from it… and wow - everything is looking great! Well done helping this go forward for the right reasons. “From the beginning” as you said, yes not a charity, just supporting African cycling in the right way. Big up, much love everyone. 🇰🇪 ♥️ 🚲

Here's a better idea. Bring American/ European riders and infrastructure to race in Africa. Why is it always about leaving to better themselves? As a westerner that lives in Asia I often wonder why we westerners seem to think our way is somehow "better".....just a thought.... truly awesome place to race btw...

I agree and it would be more opportunity for all to have multi-day pro/am gravel events in Africa and anyplace draped with gravel roads, just get riders and bikes and tents to a destination and grow something new and adventurous.

Good question, I've always wondered why the "Pro Tour" calendar is so confined to Europe. I hope that gravel can grow to be more similar to how the WRC does races with lots of international venues highlighted.

When in Kenya many years ago I thought at the time what a place to cycle. Not on the roads, but on the tracks. If the Colombians can do it, so can the Kenyans. They have done it on the running tracks, so why not on the bike.

Seems tone deaf, completely disregarding an exploitive history of colonialism that was the 1st world's "opportunity" and that created "opportunity" for rich white people ever after. The conversation about "hand out" or "opportunity" is still basically a racist argument where rich white people "argue" about poor people's character when the issue is worldwide capitalistic white supremacy. IMO. I love the use of the limited "frame" to draw attention away from the actual cause of economic disparity. Also, I'm available for product testing.
