Most of these deleted scenes actually make a lot of the real movie make sense, or at least more sense. Like the hatch. That's an important detail. The talk about going home. I want to see the full directors cut, with everything in it. I don't care if it's 4 hours long.

Yes the deleted scenes usually do help. We were watching a movie one time I don't remember the name of it but it it cut from like a dinner scene to something else and it was really confusing from then on the whole movie was confusing. Anyways we found the deleted scene was in the DVD and that deleted scene pretty much summed up the whole movie it was really stupid that they cut it it was only like a minute and a half.

The bigger question is why they didn’t use their Sherman 76 properly, the APHE shells that cannon fired were more than enough to penetrate the hull and the turret of the tiger. They could’ve just shot at it as soon as they saw it and knock it out in one or two shots

@jessm7482
@jessm7482 6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I felt that they left out a lot of important information in the final cut. I always wondered why Wardaddy had some sort of connection to Norman, and turns out in the original script apparently Wardaddy had a brother named Norman that shared a lot of similarities with the kid, however he died. So that explains a lot of why Wardaddy protected him multiple times and such. Plus in the original there was a lot more background such as why Wardaddy could speak German, and apparently his mother was born there or he had some type of ancestry so his connection to the war was more personal. Overall I loved the movie, despite the criticism such as it’s lack of accuracy etc, but I felt they did it a big injustice to leave out so much backstory from the characters. Would have made a much more gripping film and possibly could have been 1 of the best in that genre.

@jackiemortes 6 ай бұрын
@@absolutelydisgusted8665 Every historical movie in existence sacrifices some historical accuracy during filmmaking process. Every one. The best are "mostly" accurate with few inaccuracies which enhance the viewing experience. That's the way it works. It's a movie, not a documentary. Saving Private Ryan and the beloved Band of Brothers are not entirely accurate either. The Tiger skirmish, a favourite punching bag for entitled internet experts is a prime example. Yes, it ignores few basic facts like gun penetration at this distance and presents the infamous "one Tiger equals 4 Shermans" allegory. And so what? The scene is suspenseful, well paced and audio-visually impressive. It works. It works because it uses just the right amount of history coupled with a bit exaggerated but still respectful movie fiction. Would a "perfectly historically accurate" version of this event (whether the Tiger wins or loses) be as interesting? And a last note: strange shit happens in warfare. At some point an M8 Greyhound armoured car managed to take out the King Tiger by shooting at its ass.

I think the majority of all deleted scenes should have been left in. It brings more side info on each character as well as allows us to bond with them more. In the original with scenes cut out, we see the crew as a bunch of shit talking war toughened men, but with deleted scenes we see regular men who still retain their humanity. (They just show Norman how to survive war in their own tough way)

Devin I prefer historical fiction anyways. It allows for more creative and interesting stories that still adhere to the context of the designated place and time. When films are based on true stories there are always historical inaccuracies because the writers are forced to prioritize a good narrative over an accurate one.

More movies should look more like this. Gordo misspeaking and spit flying from his face while telling the kid about what's up. Calls him a mofo just cuz he doesn't play cards. It's real. Brad Pitt blurting out "I don't want it to end" right as thebear jew is ranting about how he doesn't wanna go to Berlin, and the bear jew waits until he's done with his current thought before responding. It's an actual fuckin dialog. The back and forth between the bear jew and Brad Pitt is fantastic. Also the whole scene is necessary for character development. The release I saw didn't have this scene. Brad Pitt's character being so ready to die doesn't make sense without this scene.

It just occurred to me that had Grady survived the war, and got himself a wife with a bunch of babies as he says, he would turn into the abusive, hillbilly, father, with PTSD, in the 50s and 60s.

this scene explains why they held off the german patrol at the end, the commander didnt want to survive the war, he feared going home, a little selfish to drag his squad down with him though, he should have known they would never abandon him

They need to re-release this movie with all the deleted scenes, as a seperate DVD or something. It would be a long movie but much better.

For them, they're fine, they've got a 76 Jumbo, however, for the smaller more Boxy Sherman's, they wouldn't be, those ones were called Tommy Cookers for a reason.

If only they had deleted the SS fight scene and thought it out a bit better.... Veterans rushing a tank like conscripts on their first day... The Tiger charging should also have been deleted

Hey bud. The ss fight scene is actually a good one. By that time in the war there weren't many veterans in the battalions anymore mostly new recruits. Either the old or the very young was all that was left of German manpower . The young wanted to fight and die for hitler in the worst way so the scene actually makes sense.

It pisses me off that in movies about the Second World War, actors are 20-30 years older than real soldiers back then. It was similar in Saving Private Ryan. Pitt was 50 in 2014. Real tank commanders were 25-30 years old.
