So true! It was one of the best gaming experiences. I'll be putting guides up for everything, before going deep into the ARG, but I'm trying to structure them in a way that allows people to maybe solve things on their own (by starting with the hints before giving away any actual solutions.)

When I figured out that each of the pages had a golden line, I was so excited! I felt like a genius! Then I put it all together. It took a while, some pages puzzled me for a bit. And I tried it. And it didn't work. Eventually, after I deciphered half or more of TUNIC's runic language, I caved and looked it up online. I was missing the one dash from P52. Just like that, with one little line, a great discovery and achievement was stolen from me. It's the only thing I regret.

For me it was the fact that it had been almost blatantly in your face for hours. And even though you reviewed the manual countless times, every time your poured over it something new revealed itself that had been there from the beginning. Its just brilliant.

I traced the golden line correctly across all the pages. But when I entered the sequence at the door, it never did anything. Thought I had traced the path wrong, went over all the pages, tried again, still nothing. So I looked it up here. My path was right, I just kept getting the inputs wrong! Similar issues in other fairy puzzles. Frustrating, but glad I gave it a go before looking it up.

I knew exactly which dash you meant without even needing to check, had the exact same thing happened to me - it was the only thing I had off after my first go. I never got around to solving the language (yet!) but I scoured through the manual again double checking my work and when I spotted that dash I *shouted* at it like it had personally insulted me.

I managed to get it right, but this was probably one of my biggest gripes with the puzzle. Because it's so long, it's fairly easy to get one part wrong and either need to re-check all of your work, or just look it up. I think it also turned into a tiny bit of a slog towards the end once I had already figured out how to solve it, but needed to write everything down. Some of the parts of the puzzles were really cool (like the save data part), but others just felt like busywork to me. I think I'm the odd one out here, though, since so many people refer to this as one of the greatest gaming puzzles ever, while I felt it was solidly above average.

Hearing the melody as the door opens was the most beautiful moment of this game, I almost cried out of pure pride. So few games made me so incredibly good as this one as I figured out the secret, and it was doing it while I was solving the fairys, staring at the pages for so long made me realize the gold lines all over and with the holy cross recontextualized, made me realize (a little late) I must jigsaw it to uncover it.

I just completed it a couple days ago! So cool to have those "aha!" moments, and adding each part of the path to my notes. The one page that I had a problem with was page 52, where the crossthrough line for the stop wasn't obvious to me, and I had to go back to figure that out when my code didn't work on the first attempt. Oh and I nearly forgot to mention; it was your fairies guide that put me onto this game in the first place. I saw the guide and thought, if FF is making a video about it, it must be a pretty cool game. I don't wanna spoil myself by watching the video so I'll go check out the game first. A few days and a true ending later, I can say I'm glad I did.

I put the path together by taking a screenshot of each page on the golden path and then using Adobe Illustrator resizing and fitting each path onto a screenshot of the board. Just finished getting the platinum on ps5 since they added it to the ps+ catalogue. I had to really fight the urge to look up the complete button combination for the golden path because something was apparently wrong with the combo i made. It's too bad inputting the codes doesn't work half the time. I have tried the carpet puzzle probably 50 times in a row. I have no idea what the problem is. I have tried several codes from different places as well as tracing it from the carpet which is at a 45 deg angle which reduces your chance of getting the orientation right. Am I too slow? Does my d pad work well enough? Should I even try the golden path which has over 100 characters?

I tend to tell people interested in trying this game that some of the secrets/puzzles were just not fun for me. For some this might be the best puzzle they've ever had the pleasure of solving, but for me I found it far too tedious and ended up looking it up on google. i think my biggest issue with this game is that its all in its own language and at no point, will the game auto translate all of it. and i get to some people that is the fun. for me, it took away a big chunk. i would look at a sign for advice and get lucky if one of those words was in English. i enjoy puzzles, but i dont have the time, attention span, or patience to learn a a whole new language to start a puzzle.
@ryhanon7
@ryhanon7 10 күн бұрын
Translating it isn't necessary though - every puzzle can all be solved without translating even a single word of the made up language. In fact, most of the translations don't even help solve anything.
@killshock360
@killshock360 10 күн бұрын
@@ryhanon7 you're right, you can just use the Internet to find someone else who learned the language
@ryhanon7
@ryhanon7 10 күн бұрын
@@killshock360 Uh no. You literally don't need the language to solve the puzzles. You don't need the internet either. I solved almost every puzzle in the game without ever translating the language. At most, translating it just reveals a handful of minor hints at some of the puzzles - but it's not *required* to solve any of it.

I haven't gotten around to playing this game properly so there is only one thing I want to know, is there anything in the game that's permanently missable? like secrets or collectibles?
@FuryForged

Nope. You can even continue playing after finishing it in order to acquire anything you may have missed.

@@FuryForged Ok that makes me fear the game a lot less because for someone like me who really likes *knowing* things, the game being specifically designed to *not* tell you things is very very daunting.

It all comes together very well as you play. But if you don't want to 100% it or get the "true" ending, then a normal playthrough is simple enough. But, like I said, even after beating it, you have a choice to continue playing OR enter NG+ (and even if you chose NG+, the game creates a new save for you, so you can keep playing on the old one if you want to 100% it.) Lots of friendly options.

@@FuryForged Alright cool, also another question, I remember there being some sort of easy mode, can you still do everything with that enabled?
@FuryForged
@FuryForged Жыл бұрын
Yup. You can enable/disable infinite health and/or infinite stamina at any time while playing, and those don't disable anything at all (including achievements.)

There's a strikethrough in the top right corner box that's easy to miss, that might be it. If you think you have everything correct, you could google an image of the completed golden path chart and compare it to yours

It's all perfectly solveable, particularly if you translate the runic text, which is totally doable with patience.

This game is neat but it was just way too cryptic (and the combat was too difficult) to even beat things normally for me, so I quit very early on.

I disagree in that when 99% of your game is a certain style of gameplay & level of challenge, having a sudden massive change and step up in difficulty/crypticness for a true ending sort of spoils things. I like to scratch the completion itch but it's not very fun when a game takes you through a tough, but fair world and then all of a sudden slams a massive wall in front of you. Maybe I'm dumb or maybe it's just being too old and not having enough time to play games as much.

I actually did it on my own in the game and it was extremely satisfying. It took a lot of time solving it, but once you realize the numbers on page 49 reference pages in the manual it's not too difficult. I got the idea to draw it out on a big piece of paper but wasn't sure if it'd work like that. You start to notice it's all connected and the rest falls in place from there
