I remember watching this back in the late 90's. I had a big crush on miaka. Still sort of do. Since this was a "girl's show" I had to keep my fandom a secret from my male friends. But I think this show has enough action and slapstick comedy to win over many male fans. If only they gave it a chance. Oh well, this show was still successful and is a classic!

The fact that Miaka is KOS-MOS is even more astonishing than the fact Tamahome is Solid Snake. I mean, seriously, Bridget Hoffman is amazing. I had no idea she was Miaka until I saw her TVTropes page. That is some real talent and I wish she got more appreciation.

At 1st I thought this was going to be an Anime series intended for a 13 - 16 year old fan base but I'm on episode #29 and see that it is FAR from it. This is truly a remarkable story which I'm sure needs no explanation as to the depth of love and devotion, also the character development. As a 64 year old totally CRAZED ANIME MADMAN, I'm actually already in tears over this series. How I never even heard of it before is beyond me. I hope I'm not getting dementia. LOL. 👍

I agree that the "stupid" girl in these animes are very annoying but they don't bother me too much because it happens in real life shes a young teenage girl who is very strong willed and funny I adore her and even though she is "dumb" she has another talent; luck and people who care about her surround her and eventually as she grows older she'll wise up (you all forgot she's a young girl in a far off ancient and foreign land!)

Fushigi Yugi was my first manga I ever owned xD long story actually, my brother knew I was slowly getting into anime and he just bought me this when I got back home. And I was like "okeee" And I fell in love with it xD I think I was 10 years old then I decided to check out the anime

My ultimate favorite anime since I was in elementary... And now I'm already 29... It brings back my childhood memories... Still my ultimate favorite anime... 2nd is fairytail..
