That was absolutely brilliant, thank you! I learned so much from this one tutorial, more than I have learned from any other Fusion 360 tutorial. This basic enclosure will become the base for may project cases I design in the future. The use of variables for sizes has made this design so flexible.

Wow! That was incredibly helpful! One of the reasons for it being so is that, opposed to other tutorials, you went out of your way and explained all the little fusion360 details pro-users just forgot they even adhere to but beginners struggle with. Like the constrainted line you made there, I finally understood those details I struggled so much with, when I followed other tutorials but it simply didn't work. Thank you!

Absolutely Perfect. I have to admit that I have been methodically going through Lars Christensen's Beginners Fusion 360 videos so I had some comfort with the tool but, Yes, like it has been said below, a Super good example of using parameters and having a complet box with a snapping lid. I use this all the time now to start a new project where I need a box. Just open this project and do a Save As. Thanks Again!!!

hands down the most useful and well explained on making enclosures of this type. Bravo! Note for others: when you make the inner bevel for the lid you want do this: -(shell+gap) (that's a minus sign before everything else) otherwise the offset is going to be outside of the rim

Thanks very much for the tutorial. Excellent tips, and especially some of the shortcuts. I have one suggestion: if you start your box centered on the origin you won't need to construct a mid-point plane. I've found more than once that centering the origin can be extremely useful in these sorts of constructs. I loved the tip on extruding at an angle! That will undoubtedly save me lots of time in the future.

Been doing tutorials for the past 4 days, this is the best tutorial I've seen, on a tangent but im about to graduate and I love using and learning this program, i wish i had went into a program of study that utilized this (or something similar), I dont find it boring, ive always been interested in creating 3d objects, tried blender and a couple other programs and they werent as intuitive and cool as this program. Getting a 3D printer some time next week.

I've been doing CAD for a while but on more complex programs and I recently had to switch to Fusion and I hated it. But pairing things together taught me so much more about it and I'm almost starting to like it. ESPECIALLY the defining parameters portion, literally saved me so much time and I had no idea Fusion could do that! Thank you! For the people that are using a more recent version of Fusion, you can add the parameters under "Modify" > "fx Change Parameters" all the way at the bottom.
