Introducing Autodesk 360! In this beginner lesson tutorial, we will learn the basics of creating 1D lines, which create 2D shapes and eventually 3D parts. We will explore the sketch tool, rectangle and extrusion tools, then the revolve tool to create 3D parts.

AWESOME! You explain everything very well. Your pace is spot on, you're clear and concise, and you truly do take it to the basic beginner level which most other videos have failed miserably at. Most others making these videos obviously take for granted that everyone knows all of the basics. GREAT JOB!

I've watched a couple of tutorials "for absolute beginners" and this is definitely the best. Most will throw you into creating a object and cover too much too soon, I like the pace and the fact you are covering the very basics and explaining what the tools do which is exactly what I wanted. I am looking forward to watching the next parts :D

I had a bit of a problem following and repeating what you were doing until I looked at the little cube in the top right corner. In the "Home" position; that is, with the "Front" face showing on the left, my version has the "Z" axis marked vertically on the left of the Front. Your version has the "Z" axis on the lower left corner of the Front face with a short line suggesting that the "Z" axis is from front to back. I also had a bit of a problem extruding as your arrow went to the left and mine to the right. Are these changes that have been made by Autodesk? My son tells me that the "Z" axis is vertical on 3D printers. Is that correct?
@AvivMakesRobots
@AvivMakesRobots 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, don't worry too much about the cube. You can actually "reset" the orientation of the cube at any time and make the back the front, or the left the front (just examples).

@AvivMakesRobots
@AvivMakesRobots 3 жыл бұрын
Sure! Thanks for subscribing. I've gotten many questions about this. It depends on the plane the part was started on. If you rotate around and then start your part on the underside of the top plane, or on the back of the right plane, your coordinate system will be out of order. That being said, you can always reset this. To anyone reading this comment, don't worry about this problem! You can always reset it. Click on the little arrow under the view cube to reset it.

How is the X, Y and Z axis set? Your default has Z axis joining bottom and right planes...mine joins front and left. So I don't have a blue and red line intersecting, mine are green and red.
@AvivMakesRobots
@AvivMakesRobots 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Bill, our coordinate systems may be different, but this should generally not be a problem. It is always possible to redefine the view-cube to either the "front" or "top". If you have started the exercise on what seems to be the wrong plane, I would not worry about it. If you want to set it up exactly the way I did, you can rotate the view cube until your X, Y and Z are aligned with mine, but again, it should not matter for this example.
@ians7611
@ians7611 4 жыл бұрын
With my part in the Home position my grid at the origin point has the X and Y axes on the blue and red lines and the Z axis points straight up to the top. In the first minute of this tutorial your X and Z axes are on the blue and red lines and the Y axis points straight up. My “Cube” in the top right is in the same position as yours (the X,Y, and Z axes are different but the Top, Front, and Right labels are in the same positions) so I am guessing your part is in the Home position too. Which is correct? Thanks for the great tutorial!
@AvivMakesRobots
@AvivMakesRobots 4 жыл бұрын
Ian, it is possible to change what is the top at any time. It doesn't really matter that much, but it is good to use the same sort of set-up, at least for consistency. You can change it by clicking on the little arrow to the bottom-right of the cube.

1:32 I have watched several videos and XYZ planes point in different directions in lots of them. I have 3D printer, laser ,cnc machines and in my fusion program or other programs I work with aswell they all follow the standard rule the Z plane is the vertical up and down the x moves left and right, Y foward and backwards but in this video for instance the Y is equivalent to the Z axis or up and down movement why does this happen in fusion and why does this program seem to adopt different plane settings in different videos I've watched if we take into account that it's the same version for everyone ? It doesn't make much sense to me can you please explain why this happens ? Thank you
@AvivMakesRobots
@AvivMakesRobots 3 жыл бұрын
It happens if you design a part in fusion and you set one of the views of the model to be the new "top" view. This resets the XYZ system. Example: You design an object and you want the "top" to now be the "front" by clicking the little arrow under the viewcube and selecting "front" or "top".
@BlackSmokeDMax
@BlackSmokeDMax 2 жыл бұрын
You can also change the setting in Fusion to have it default to the Z axis being the vertical line that you are expecting. I did that immediately a few years ago. Not that it matters too much, as during setup creation in the manufacturing section, you can set the part in any orientation desired easily.

At 1:27 my cube shows Top, Front, and Right just like yours but when I highlighted the XY, XZ, YZ the 3 squares that appear at the origin point are not like yours. The XY and YZ are above the red line? Have you put out a settings video? This starts putting out differences when I try to match this video key stroke for key stroke. Don't sweat it! Here is the easy way to fix your problem: Select the plane you want to use and make your sketch on it. When you are done, exit out of that sketch and use the view cube to orient your sketch exactly how you want it to be permanently oriented. Now here is the magic... click the little arrow under the view cube and change the view to be "front" this will re orient your view from now on.

Hello want to know how to adjust the x,y,z axis? thank you
@AvivMakesRobots
@AvivMakesRobots 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, to adjust these, you can do so by clicking on the little arrow under the view cube. You can set the view as "front" or "right" on whichever plane you want. This will reset it.

When I open Fusion 360, there is no grid. The screen is simply white. How can I activate the grid?

There is a way to do it in the view settings, but rest assured you don't need it. It serves no purpose.

I am going to be honest i am completely lost. I cant move my objects and i just want to make a box on a box with 3 walls and this software is not user friendly. How can i make this object if i cant move the walls to the corners

You want to start by sketching a rectangle, then dimensioning your rectangle. Once you do that, use the "shell" command and click on all the faces you want to remove (you will also need to type in a value for the wall thickness you want). Hope this helps! Let me know if it doesn't.

If you did not make it, make a drawing (on paper) of what you want to draw/make in fusion 360 and send it to me at trostereiretvik@gmail.com and I´ll try to figure it out for you.

whenever I extrude it just pulls out the walls and not a complete shape? like now I have a sleeve instead of a cylinder
@AvivMakesRobots
@AvivMakesRobots 3 жыл бұрын
Before you extruded, when you hovered over the circle, did the entire circle change color? Be sure this circle is a completely closed profile (I am almost certain that isn't the problem, but be sure to check). Also, be sure to select regular extrude and not surface extrude.

@@newchallenger9017 Great! Extrusions are the most integral part of modeling... Try making sketches on all different sides of a cube or top of cylinder for instance and cutting into it/ extruding from that face. Once you master extrusions, only then should you go to revolves and sweeps.

I was hoping for a simple tutorial for people with at least a high school education. Instead I get a tutorial that explains things to people whom the video creator thinks that they don't even have basic knowledge of 3D graphing. If the rest of the tutorial is the same I predict that a lot of my time will be wasted so I will look elsewhere for a tutorial.
@AvivMakesRobots

THIS tutorial is like that. The rest of my tutorials are NOT like that (and neither is part 2). I would suggest this tutorial for learning beyond the basics: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b72XqqSmqdXdn5s.html
