Baggio is probably the most underrated player ever. A talent equally to that of Messi, Maradona, Pele' ,Cruyff. Italy was the best team in 1990 and 1994 and if it had won the world cup, Baggio would be recognised as good as Maradona if not better. Baggio was 20 years ahead of his time and his talent was never really appreciated in Italy until he stopped playing. He is the best italian football player of all time, a humble man and a great human being. Nothing like the marketing machines that are Beckham or Cristiano Ronaldo. Long live the magic ponytail. 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

Yea, I remember during those days till around 2006, most neutrals seems to love Brazil more than any other teams. Italy only scored 8 goals in 1994 and Baggio scored 5 of them. 4 of them at KO stage.

I'm English and so is my dad but with him being into Maradona i heard more about Italian football than English! The 1st world cup i ever watched was 1990 i was 10 and thats how i 1st heard of Baggio and that goal he did against Czech. I remember him and Schillaci being a good pair together for Italy in that world cup. I'd have been happy for england, argentina or italy to win in 1990. I remember the penalty in the 1994 final it was so gutting for him. I actually closed my eyes when he took it I couldn't watch! I'd have gone crazy had it gone in! I used to watch the Italian football programme on a sat morning in the UK just for him! My dad is now a big Messi fan. Such a shame he had the injuries he had he was such a good player and too good player to be overshadowed by that 1 penalty miss. He does get less recognition but those in the know about football know he was 1 of the best

The fact that they hushed their voices when they spoke about Leo says everything.... Gems don't scream to be noticed...! You can also see the admiration... these guys were super talented in their prime but they knew they were in the midst of GREATNESS Sometimes I imagine if Baggio didn't have those injuries... he'd have been in the conversation for one of the top 10 best of all time...! loved Baggio growing up, the guy retired with Brescia and I remember him scoring a worldy against my beloved Parma, but i wasnt angry because it was the divine ponytail thay scored. A genius of a player. Loved his advice to messi, to keep his head down and stay focussed. Ho visto questo video non so quante volte e ogni volta mi viene da piangere. Baggio è unico, non esiste e non è mai esistito un giocatore come lui con la sua umiltà, semplicità e genialità. E' la nostalgia fatta persona. Da quando Baggio non gioca più non è più domenica... e io ho avuto l'onore di vederlo giocare a Firenze quando ero un bambino.

Pep said Baggio is probably the best player he’s ever played with and he’s played with Romario, Stoichkov, Koeman, Luis Enrique to name a few...Baggio unlucky with injury all his life but was still a beast of a player, ballon dor winner, the best dribbler I’ve ever seen in the game! 👏

It's because he was born in the wrong era. Serie A at the time was full of fierce defenders, and tackling someone from behind wasnt a red card offence back then. Also Serie A teams back then usually played 4-4-2. Imagine if Baggio is playing today.

Michael Laudrup was better and in my opinion the best player pep ever played with, just because he was a central midfielder, he gets neglected. This has always been the case , attacking forwards have always been preferred over midfield orchestrators or defenders.

Baggio was an idol to me when I was a kid. He seemed so determined when he carried the ball so freaking confident. He would dance with the ball, and do amazing things.So mesmerizing. I cheered for Italy in WC90. That was the first time I learned how it feels when your team loses , that agony....

The pain has never gone away. The Italian side in 1990 was fantastic; a fine blend of flair, attacking football and an outstanding defence. I will never get my head round why Baggio was dropped for the semi-final against Argentina. It robbed Italy of its greatest attacking talent and completely destroyed the rhythm of the team. As great as Baggio was in 1994, he was in much better physical condition in 1990 and 1998. (In 1994 he went into the competition carrying an achilles injury).

@@davide6163 oh yes! I watched all the games in Rome. I was 14 years old. Then the semifinal was played in Naples and we lost at the penalty shoots. 😭 it was the best Italian national team I ever saw. We were very unlucky.

This completely destroyed the rhythm of the team, which despite the tight scorelines, had played some of the best football any Italian side has ever played. They were a joy to watch from the first game against Austria up to the game against Ireland. 2- The game was played in Naples, where a large contingent of fans had mixed loyalties - either supporting their country or their idol Maradona. The atmosphere and backing just wasn't the same as it had been in Rome. 3- Argentina had been terrible in that World Cup. They were awful to watch (Maradona's moments of brilliance aside) and scraped their way to the semi-final. Against Italy, they put in, by far, their best performance of the tournament, showing more attacking intent and really seized on the anxieties of the Italian team and many of the fans.

Es que Roberto Baggio no es cualquier jugador, tuvo la creatividad de Zidane y lo goleador de Ronaldo Nazario, era completísimo, parece q anotó más de 300 goles en serie A, era un monstruo, Guardiola lo dijo claro a Iniesta, él era mejor q tú, y es una realidad, Roberto Baggio era muchísimo mejor que Iniesta.

Baggio was a very good player, no comments, agreed, but even on his best few seasons(only) which I'm very sure you never watched any of them, you can't compare him against Messi 15 non stop super season's including assists, dribble and bla bla bla.
