Love the V coupe performance and certainly the best looking of the CTS bodies, but I think the ELR has more dramatic styling, particularly it’s frontal grill point/nose & taillight fins. It’s pure Art & Science (efficiency not traditional performance)

I bought a 2013 CTS-V Coupe, black with a black interior back in 2020. It had 5,000 miles and I have driven it a bit since I purchased it and it currently has 28,800 miles. The car is an absolute beast as it sits stock. With a few upgrades that car can be an absolute beast. The LS motor is an excellent platform and the potential for upgrades is amazing.

I own a 2009 CTS-V sedan with a manual transmission and absolutely love it, one of the most underrated/overlooked vehicles in my opinion. It's a great blend of speed and luxury (granted, not nearly as refined as most European vehicles) without breaking the bank in terms of price point, maintenance/service, parts/mods, etc. Currently undergoing an extensive build at the moment (416ci, Kong 2650, E85 w/ nitrous, etc.) and the idea of making >500hp stock let alone 4 digit horsepower figures in a 2-ton Cadillac sedan truly makes the CTS-V a modern-day sleeper.

This car represents the crescendo of the era when Cadillac pulled itself out of near extinction in the early 2000s by reinventing itself with complete focus on engineering. Unfortunately, they slowly went back to their old ways. This CTS was made on the Sigma II platform which was designed from the ground up for this car. The first generation SRX, for example, was an excellent SUV winning many awards. It was designed by Cadillac and exclusively for Cadillac (Sigma I). For the second generation in 2010 GM decided to cut costs and build it on the Epsilon platform. In other words, they reskinned a Malibu. WTH Cadillac?!

@@jeffyoder8105 They never lost that status. They were probably the most comfortable cars ever, even better than the Rolls (The bud vases being the only thing lacking). That generation of CTS-V was the fastest production sedan around Nürburgring for six months... until Porsche stuffed turbos in the Panamera. I love the V's. I've had two, and hope to keep the current one as long as possible. As to the "four-door Corvette" the car does handle very well for as heavy as it is. Corvette is obviously lighter and more nimble, but the chasis for the V is awesome.

I fully intend to one day own a CTS-V wagon with a manual, they're just the coolest damn thing in history to me as a GM guy and certainly among the last of its breed forever. I had the chance to drive a manual sedan, and was just amazed at how easy it was to drive VERY irresponsibly, one of the few cars I've ever driven that I think I might've been actually competitive with on track (I don't race, so I could be wrong, but I like to drive and am good at it, and I was FAST in that car despite not knowing the car at all). Just a brilliant swan song, in my opinion, for fast, V8, manual transmission, comfortable, American cars that an American can be proud of and that truly was on par with anything else out there. And available in a wagon for weirdos like me, haha!

So plum for the new tires already!! Its no small thing for Cadillac to reinvent itself and get it so right with this car. And the manual box just shows that they were serious. Your comparison with the 2002 E55 AMG Merc says it all. American engineers can always deliver the sheer performance at less cost that the European equivalent. With your title: "Future Performance Collectible" you struck exactly the right note. Well done Jay!
