Litterally the only reason the studio made it pg 13 is they need the movie to make as much money back as possible. the movie needs to get atleast $500 million worldwide to break even...continuing with a R rating with all the gore and only adults being able to go watch the movie probably wouldn't even end up getting $200 million worldwide total. they over spent on it and nodoubt worried after seeing cuts of the movie. not to mention the production cost was $150 million that did NOT include the cost to finish all the CGI on all the gory deaths the director said they had shot and prepared he said it would have cost way more millions and that's why we wont ever get a UNCUT R-RATED home release. plus $90 million on promo

@Video Game Basement you have zero idea how it works then, the studio gets only a small cut of the money it makes from the US and even a smaller cut if makers from worldwide boxoffice, if a movie makes $300 million outside of the US the studio only gets about $180 million of that money You really need to look up on how studio's make money from movies and what they need to do. You have to combine the movie production costs with the promo costs then take the total worldwide boxoffice bit deduct the total cost from that and then remove the costs the cinema chains take from the boxoffice take...this is why this movie needed to break $500 million These are facts Also in the case of this movie it's not as bad for the American studio as the budget costs were split as it was part financed with china
