Thanks. Yea Snode is nice. Think it comes down to how careful you want to be with your gear. With the snodes you have to really rerack them carefully while the nuo you can slide them down easy. The snodes are more compact while the nuo a little bulkier.

I've been using the Core Fitness Dumbbells since early October, 2020. They've held up very well for me so far. I hadn't heard of the Snode's at the time I was researching dumbbells. And with the Pandemic related shortages last Fall, there weren't a lot of options. I'm happy with what you get for the price with Core Fitness. Like you, I do wish they went above 50 lbs. I'm maxed out on several exercises. I'm now fully vaxxed, so I'm strongly considering going back to the gym.

I just bought the Snode 80lb. Quality is really high. There is no end protrusion to dig into your leg anymore, like on the 50lb. They also change the nylon internal rod to aluminum for the 80lb. It is supposedly drop resistant from 32 inches. The handle is solid and has no movement during lifts. If you want a high quality metal dumbbell set for about $800 Snode is the way to go

The Snode...mostly because it’s the closest to the real thing, and I’m very careful in general with my gear since I sell a lot after I use it some. And you have to be careful with the Snodes or else they could easily chip on the edges when re-racking.
@Voltechs

Thank you for this review. I was so stoked when I saw the Snode. It looked like everything I wanted, but your review helped to expose some flaws. That protrusion on the 50lb setting is really unfortunate, and kinda a deal breaker. Love the construction though. Wish someone would make these without that final protrusion and in 5 or 10 increments.

I really wanted to get some quick adjust dumbbells. Now I am starting to appreciate just simple. I have 2 old school adjustables with 2.5, 5 and 10 pound plates. In fixed dumbbells I have 8-30 pounds. Yesterday I picked up two 15 pounders at Target. They are the neoprene covered and are very compact with a fatter bar. I have started favoring lightweight high rep at my age. I rarely use over 35 pounds and tend to prefer 20 pounds.

One of my nuobells broke after 2 months. Never dropped or been rough with them. Doing 45lbs dumbell press mid set the plastic gear cover cracked and now the lock on one side wants to strip when its out the cradle. I think this may be somewhat of a common issue with them because finer form is sending me a new handle and they attached a video to the email they sent showing how to change the plates to the new handle and in the video the nuobell has a crack in the gear housing. Time will tell though how many more people this happens to.

Appreciate the great comparisons. I think this design needs more time in the oven so to speak. It's either too much plastic or too hard to re rack. I'm leaning more and more towards the powerblock elite exp's. Every comment on them I see is about durability and that some people have had them for literally decades. There is some serious price gouging and supply issues right now so I'm definitely waiting but when the time comes powerblock seems like the best investment.
