Optical zoom only matters if you need it. Many years ago I used to sell digital cameras. EVERYONE came in wanting a zoom on their camera. And they weren't satisfied with a 2X, 3X, or even 6X zoom, they wanted like 60X zoom. They told me stories of their delusions of grandeur, how they want to be sitting in the stands at their kid's soccer game, and get that really nice shot with the blurred background and the kid kicking the ball. And they wanted it pocket sized, of course. When I asked them how much they were looking to spend, it was usually somewhere in the 99 dollar range. The moral of that story is, they weren't going to get what they were looking for unless they changed EVERYTHING. That $99 would have to be more like $999. Sitting in the stands would have to be "on the sidelines with a nice tripod", and pocket sized means "it'll fit in a fanny pack if you're lucky". None of which the customer had, or wanted to do or deal with. In other words, you can have good, you can have cheap, but not in the same sentence. As for the range, here's another story: I was recently sent an electric kettle for boiling water to review. It claims it can boil water in 5 minutes. So I put that to the test. It holds a maximum of 13 ounces, so that's what I put in. I ensured the water was the same as room temperature before I began. It clocked in at 8 minutes. Here's why: 1. They never said HOW MUCH water it could boil in 5 minutes. 2. They didn't say what the temperature of that water was. 3. The line voltage I have may have been a few volts less than their testing rig. This one doesn't drastically affect the results, but the difference certainly isn't negligible. Even if a range were listed, you wouldn't get what it claimed. Like the MPG rating for a car, it's rated for 24 city/27 highway, you get 18, and that's as good as it gets. When I was in the service business, there was a saying to "underpromise and overdeliver". That drove future business. As a consumer you should always underexpect, then be pleasantly delighted. That way you'll get at least some of what you wanted.

What I was trying to explain was that even if the manufacturer had listed a range as far as how far you could see in complete darkness, don't count on it being accurate. They didn't list a range, so there really is nothing to compare to, except just try it out and see if you like it. Another great example would be laundry detergent. The bottle says "160 loads". Are you ever going to get 160 loads out of that bottle? Never. Customers used to always ask me how long the ink cartridges in their printer would last. My default response would be to pull the pen out of my shirt pocket and say "Same number of pages I can write with this pen. Tell me how many I can write with this pen and I'll tell you how long those ink cartridges last. Exactly--you cannot quantify. The answer is, it lasts until it runs out. Definitely not 5, and definitely not 50,000. Somewhere in-between. That is the most honest answer you will ever get from any salesperson out there." I tell it like it is, I don't sugar-coat anything. I present the product neutrally. I show what it can do, I don't show what it can't do. If you didn't see it, it can't do it.

​@jaykay18 the person simply asked what is the max range in full darkness, not what they claim it to be or what is promised, but for you as someone who has hands on the product, could simply answer with what you were able to observe. If those animals can see infrared, then they can see the light. You and I can't see infrared, so it's completely dark to us. Yes, the area was completely dark, there was no trickery involved whatsoever. All of my videos are done in a truthful manner, this is exactly what the night vision goggles can see. You're welcome.

@@jaykay18 Thank you very much for your answer. I would like you to know that I did not think trickery was involved. I asked if it was completely dark because sometimes around houses there is light from near by houses or other buildings, and without asking I would not have known if there was any light there. I've never owned night vision before but I just bought a pair of the FVTGA binocs, and your video and your link helped me to make my decision. Thank yu again very much !!

Sound to me like the battery isn't taking or holding much of a charge. I'd contact the manufacturer, they should be able to replace it for you. Otherwise, exchange it through Amazon.

There are plenty of online free file converters, perhaps they can make heads or tails out of it. Or you could try uploading to your KZfaq channel as a private video and then downloading from there. Or try a better video player such as VLC.

@@Mario-lv5bv In the old days, night vision was green. Now, things are lit via infrared light, which the camera picks up in black and white. I recorded the exact same scenes during the day and at night so you could see the difference.
