I respect every officer, never had an issue but I do have to say Environmental officers are some of the biggest ball busters I've ever seen. Here in RI they legit try so hard to get you on anything, even dock fishing they sneak up to you like ninjas.

Game warden has to check for over limits or animals that are out of season in your posession. Your 4th amendment rights are null and void with the game warden. That's just how it is. They couldn't do their job otherwise.

@@Picasofly I’m not disagreeing that their job would be difficult but isn’t that the nature of law enforcement. Think about this. Why is it ok to give up 4th amendment rights to protect wildlife but an officer cannot simply pull you over and check your car for guns. Wouldn’t the latter be protecting people’s lives. I back law enforcement, don’t get me wrong and have had nothing but mostly positive experiences with game wardens but I find it odd that game wardens do not have the same burden of probable cause or warrant that other law enforcement must have to search you. I have heard it explained that when you buy a hunting or fishing license you essentially agree to being searched. I disagree with that argument but if you follow the logic why then when you get a drivers license do you not also forfeit your rights? It’s something to ponder not something I’m actually too worried about since I try to make sure I’m legal every time I go out on the water.

I have found that as long as you pass the "attitude test" , and you haven't been previously warned, enforcement mainly wants people to be safe.

@@micahtova8198 Fishing pamplets, online guides, also an app called Fish Rules...you can put it any state, fresh or salt water, and you get a list of fish, pictures of the fish, and the fishing requirements-such as, how many you can keep, size limits, how to measure size-each fish is measured differently, and seasons to keep the fish.

Nothing like lightening wallets to ensure people's safety. Everyone knows that the leading cause of death is having too much money. At least he didn't appear to fine this guy for only having one fire extinguisher. He could have and that is disturbing. Had he not been local or just didn't like the way he looked or spoke to him, the ticket book would probably come out. I dont specifically blame the cop, but the system that allows this has to change.

@Ronald Stewart-Indeed I have. Got caught turkey hunting this past weekend 140 yards from a feeder. The law says you must be at least 100. More than plenty to be within compliance, but that didn’t stop them from rushing in on us like they were busting a meth lab. Your response speaks volumes, tells me you either work for this agency, or you enjoy being bullied and falsely accused of violating the law.

@Ronald Stewart-You sir, are misinformed. When hunting turkeys in FL, the rule says that the hunter has to be at least 100 yards from a bait or feeding station. I wasn’t on anyone’s radar. The inept “officer” was working the neighboring property, and saw my setup when he crossed my property. He didn’t measure the distance from my setup to the permanent deer feeder that is on the food plot. He then called another warden, and they checked both me and my neighbor. He came out of the brush making accusations just like the guy in this video. He left with egg on his face. He absolutely ruined mine and my son’s first turkey hunt of the season for nothing. Tell me again how I’m going to lose this argument? The “baited field” rule you’re referring to is a rule for hunting migratory birds(dove,ducks,etc.), not turkeys. Surely you learned how to research in med school. Maybe you should try that before making comments.

Not sure how you reached that conclusion from my original comment. I thought it was pretty clear that our hunt on my farm was ruined by a bumbling, narcissistic game warden that didn’t have the wherewithal to measure distance the day before when he trespassed through my property on his way to my neighbor’s place.

This is the unspoken reality poachers don’t realize they cause.

I am always happy to see the enforcement guys out checking licenses and for illegal stuff. Those guys seemed pretty courteous and reasonable.

where I live it is the opposite we have fish populations that are exploding and yet we can't keep them, black sea bass in the northeast especially new york are exploding in numbers which the government surveys confirm but the regulations keep getting more and more restrictive

@@henryholliday1 that's true but blame those who have destroyed the striped bass fishery and those who destroyed the cod fishery before that. That's why restrictions are so high here, because unfortunately this region has proved to be unwilling to follow lighter restrictions. I see it all the time and I'm sure you do as well with recreational fisherman blatantly disregarding every rule there is. From burying short stripers in the sand, to keeping too many fluke, to culling dead fish, to anything you could imagine, it happens here. I see it on the water inshore, offshore, I see it on the beach, it's rampant. That's why the regulations are what they are. It drives me crazy too but it's just the reality of this region. They don't trust recreational fisherman here and they have good reason not to.
