What’s happening in Fort Worth history? Dr. Richard Selcer provides an overview of current events and discusses features that make the city unique, such as the Historic Stockyards, Sundance Square development, Ripley Arnold statue and the city’s connection to John F. Kennedy.
Dr. Selcer, a Fort Worth native, is the author of 10 books on Western and Civil War history. An educator with more than 40 years’ experience, he currently teaches at Weatherford College. Selcer received his doctorate from Texas Christian University.

There should not be any mention of Dallas when discussing Fort Worth history because the two really don't compare. Dallas has always been a big business town and incredibly successful at it . Fort Worth feels entirely different. Fort Worth has much more of an authentic Texas feel . Fort Worth has rugged character and independent people that think for themselves. Fort Worth is a proud cow town that doesn't want to be like Dallas and Dallas doesn't want to be like Fort Worth. Each city is different with it's own style.

Id love to see fort worth in the 1800s. Even more, I'd love to see Gainesville, Texas in the 1800s. I was born in Fort Worth, but grew up in Gainesville mostly. What an interesting area. Some of the bravest men and women lived in this area. True legends and pioneers!

@@Wellch I remember seeing iron rings in the cement curbs on the downtown streets of Gainsville used to tie up horses while the riders were conducting business in town.
