FX Maverick .25 Marksmanship | shooting 50 yard groups

The accuracy of the FX Maverick is well known, but If the shooter can't perform, the air rifle can't help improve marksmanship. Today I'm back out at the rifle range with the FX Maverick Sniper air rifle. I'm here for some much-needed PCP air rifle marksmanship training.
Also along for the ride is the Vevor 300 bar/4500psi PCP air compressor. Hoping this compressor can refill the carbon fiber bottle on my FX airgun off grid, while using a portable lithium battery.
This video was shot at 54 yards - 50 meter range in Haukipudas, Vareputaan Ampumarata (Vareputaan rifle range).
PCP Airgun configuration
- FX Airguns Maverick .25
- Barrel 700mm
- Front reg: 180 bar/2600psi
- Rear reg: 150 bar/2175psi
- Bottle: CF, 510cc, 250 bar/ 3600psi
- Scope: Sightmark Wraith 4k Max 3-24X50

Liking that rifle and shooting area set up. I picked up the portable Vevor just for this reason.

Thanks. Yes the range has 3 parts. 50 meters pistol/carbine, 100 meters rifle, and big game range for practicing moose, bear, ... All three are covered so one can shoot in bad weather. The vevor isn't the fastest, but it's been solid so far . Also just found your channel. Looks like you've got some excellent videos. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍

Indeed! We've also got a 160 watt solar panel to charge the battery while it's connected to the compressor. I'm hoping this will work well for have a full range days. Semper Fi brother

Also, you get much better accuracy with shorter barrels. Long barrels are for higher velocity, but harder to shoot accurately.

How were you connecting the battery to the compressor

The compressor has an XT60 DC port connector on its rear panel. I used a cable between the battery (Anderson Powerpole), and compressors DC XT60 port.

Hi, do you have to clean the Maverick’s barrel before first use?

You have to clean every gun barrel before first use. They put all kinds of crap in there to stop it from rusting. It will improve your accuracy tremendously.

Have you tired to change ammo. Airguns are very VERY picky with ammo types. If you shoot 5 different types of ammo you will see some are very tight and some will not group no matter what with the same gun. For example, my Flashwood shoots very tight groups with Barracuda Hunter Extremes, does good groups with H&N slugs (much like you are shooting here) but will shot 3 to 5 inch groups with Seneca Hunting pellets from 50 yards. I didn't know if you tired multiple slugs yet or just went with what was recommended. Sometimes the same two guns like very different ammo.

We've tried quite a few. So far the maverick likes the h&n heavy .250. The .249 slugs were a no-go. It also like the JSB Match pellets, slugs, ... What I've noticed is the diameter of the pellet or slug is more important than the brand with the Mav. Perhaps I'll sort out some slugs by weight & quality, then try again. The only real problem is those occasional flyers.

About 42 shot from 250 bar, down to 150 bar when it drops off reg. 1 more mag off reg.

Your regulator pressures are way too high and your distance is not great for slugs. Pellets up to 75 yards slugs from 75 yards and on. Slugs don’t particularly like short distances if you want to shoot slugs short distances, you need to use hybrid slugs.
