Because world class defending isn't that haha. World class defending is anticipating the striker's movements and getting the ball before him, not blocking the shots after he has done everything he wanted and danced on you. That's why there aren't no more world class defenders nowadays, because you rather do a good-looking tackle than anticipating the ball, but when you do that you've already done a mistake

@@jaya6204 VVD doesn't dare to block as you say because he's more calm, collected and composed - he doesn't just dive in recklessly like Ruben. Virgil looks the opponent in the eye when 1v1 with the attacker to calculate his next move and then he can react accordingly. I take it you didn't watch Virgil play against Inter Milan - he was an absolute rock and so was Konate. Ruben Dias is not better than Virgil Van Dijk and never will be. There's a reason why he's been the best for the last 4 years or so.
