Yesterday he performed this song in front of 22,000 fans at the Endless Summer tour for the tragic events that's been going on lately. He even took the time out to have a moment of silence and words of encouragement to the masses. The more he got into depth with performing this song, the more his voice starting breaking. By the time he started talking about Melissa, he was fighting so hard not to cry until he finished the verse. He broke down in front of thousands where an outbreak of sympathy came from the fans. Soon after that happened, his mom was on the side of the stage to hug her son who was so affected by the events. Truly a touching moment. But after all the tear-shedding moment, his crew gave him a platinum award for his album and a 5x platinum award for his single Me, Myself and I. Truly an amazing night in musical history and his as well. Congrats G-Eazy

To all who read this, and those who still come back to this song after almost 6 years, know that it DOES get better. No matter what happens, where you go, or how your life progresses, you can always rise back up and know that you aren't alone. G showed us that, and as long as a community like this exists, you are never truly alone. God bless all the broken souls and weary hearts reading this, you will be the ones to find true happiness later in your life.

Sam it’s his fault he OD’D Over 600,000 People Die a day shouldn’t be singling out one person who did it to themselves, Mac Miller made great songs I do agree but it’s no ones fault but his, he could help us but no one could help him.

@@Lcid- I think about the other people who died too, but he was a nice person, I'd feel just as bad for anyone 26 years old who clearly had a lot of potential. I did think about that though, how we care more about the guy who plays piano than all of the opiate deaths... no one cries when they hear the statistics for od deaths, but it makes sense, idk why youd have to be contradictory?

when i first heard this song, i cried now three years later, i still cry and in a long time I cried again, even when writing that makes me almost cry. these things that have happened to you make me sad and make me cry. i understand that you do not like talking about it because it's very hard but I support you. i don't understand all these people who reproached u for leaving to follow ur dream. if u had listened to em u might still be working for a shit at top dog today and make me smile and happy everydays. fortunately u didn't listen to em cause now and for a long time u have been an artist. when i listen to ur old songs like 'candy girl' or 'my life is a party', I wonder how some idiots have ever wanted to stop you from being a rapper. it makes me laugh to tell u that but it's cause u're stubborn that you left even if people tried to dissuade u to follow your dream. this song, u wrote it with your heart like all the others but that one feels it more. thank u g to write such beautiful songs and it's my favorite in the album

I remember this song when it first dropped. I was a young 16 year old with alot of family issues and problems I was causing myself. I was feeling alot of pain and whilst listening to this song i got to amplify that feeling and understand it through another's perspective. It help me get over some issues(of course it didn't help with all issues because music as nice as it is doesn't cure depression or what not) and I moved on to grow into a fine adult. G eazy and his music will always have a place in my heart. Some can respect that and others can disagree. It is what it is and I'll take that proudly.

That 3rd Verse. In 2017 I woke up to find my Fiancé (and best friend) cold and blue next to the kitchen table. She OD’d on a mixture of opiates and Xanax, it was just like that crying giving CPR screaming knowing nothing would help. I try not to think about that day but I think it’s healthy to open it back up when listening to a song like this because knowing there’s SOMEONE who can in any way relate to going through that…it helps. That was 8/8/17, I checked myself into rehab on 8/9/17 and I haven’t looked back. I miss you Amber Skye ❤️ I miss you so much 😢 sometimes it’s good to cry 😭

So idk if anyone else noticed this but i did and want to point it out. The second verse he spits, i dont think its from his point of view. I think its from his brother Jame's point of view cause he says, "Where were you when she was in the hospital huh? It was only us." If you've been following G for awhile you'd know he was on tour when his mom was in the hospital. I thought this was interesting about this song. Without a doubt one of the deepest songs ive ever heard tho. Mad respect.

Maaaaan this album is so nostalgic, I was going through it with my son's mom. We broke up and this album, HIS music kept me going and not looking back except to be a great father even though things didn't work out at the time with the mother.

My mom used to tell me that all the time she passed away about six years ago my life changed. I moved home and help my sister take care of my father. They are married for 54 years and I watch my father suffer without my mom and now my daughter passed away, on June 9 I keep telling myself everything‘s gonna be OK but I miss my family. I miss my daughter my heart broke.💔

This song reminds me of my mom and my big brother. We moved around a lot when I was little from house to house but my moms always made sure me and my brother had a roof of our heads and clothes on our back. She told us everything will be okay your mama going to make sure you have a roof over your heads. To anyone going through a hard time right now everything will be ok and I hope you find happiness cause you got one life to live. ❤️❤️❤️😊😊

This song has been the single most quoted song of my existence.. I tell everyone that no matter what, everything will always be ok.. the other part was the moment when I first heard this song, the name Melissa hit me.. my mother, whom I've never been able to know, was named Melissa. She died when I was 2 years old, and I was there to watch. So thank you, for this single moment of clarity that you've granted myself and those that I love. Gerald, you're literally someone I hope to meet before everything ends in this life. You're a gift. Thank you.

I saw in an interview that he was up until like 2-3 AM recording this song, and I noticed in the first verse from 1:04 - 1:08 his voice tone changes between sentences, probably because he was getting emotional during the recording and had to make multiple takes. The interview also stated that he actually was crying during recording of the track.

[Hook - Kehlani:] Even if I don't stay Everything will be okay Everything will be okay Everything will be okay (Okay, okay) Contemplating just who I could've turned out to be If I stayed there with her, what would amount to me? If I looked and ain’t found what I have founded me? I mean, it’s hard, but they loved me, never looked down on me They say, "You know if you loved her Well then you would have stayed You could have made a perfect pair that people wouldn't trade" Trade for nothing, I did though, I had to chase it Face it, I wasn’t born to live a life basic They say, "you turned your back on us just to go and be an artist What's a promise anyway when someone breaks it? I bet he finally gets a shot and then he wastes it I bet he don’t come back for us when he makes it And if he do it be too late, you gotta face it Cause by then there's someone new you've been replaced with" Old friends I grew up with, the girl I fell in love with Love or hate me depending on how you judge it [Hook - Kehlani:] Even if I don't stay Everything will be okay Everything will be okay (I promise it'll be okay) Everything will be okay (Okay, okay) I had to wander, I had to go tread my own path If you don't step through no mud well then it won't last The years pass it's crazy how they go fast Ask myself questions that you have but you won't ask Like, "you don’t even come home enough Where were you when she was in the hospital, huh? It was only us," and that’s deep and yeah I know it cuts But if it gets you, then you’re weak Because we were here and it ain’t broken us Still as close and stayed by her side when no one was Like when she lost her job and everything, how broke we was When she was sick and she needed some taking care of A fifteen year old shouldered the weight And when he was scared of The worst, I know that you stayed strong Don’t say this enough But you made me just as proud as you made Mom Yeah, you got some anger but I don’t blame you at all I know I don't call, but you're my brother, I love you [Hook - Kehlani:] Even if I don’t stay Everything will be okay Everything will be okay (I promise it’ll be okay) Everything will be okay (Okay, okay) In that first grade class they came and got me "Your mom's outside, say goodbye now to everybody" U-Haul was waiting with all of her things At least what she could pack In the time my dad's at work and before he came back Way to young to comprehend what was happening "Are we going to grandma's? When are we coming back again?" Little did I know that we were leaving him by himself And ten years would pass before Mom sees anybody else Just us, in middle school I ain't understand Who Melissa was and why she wasn't another man Biased and confused they try to explain but nobody can Wanted what I thought was normal, she had another plan Such is life, even if it took time for me to accept it No longer Dad now, but a woman with whom she slept with Or for the years when a secret was how she kept it I ain't get it, admittedly I was skeptic I came around, happiness I see's what you may have found And that's what's most important I don’t wanna see you breaking down I wanna see you smile, I don't wanna see you make a frown If she loves you, then that's all anybody needs maybe now By '05 things had gotten worse Moved to the basement, deep depressions a rotten curse Hiding in a dark space, her mind and her body hurts Becoming more reclusive and the pills should have been alerts So the worse it got, I became more and more afraid Until one night, I went into that room, on the floor she laid I shook her she was blue, her skin was cold, she wasn't breathing Screamed, "Melissa wake up" couldn't fathom that she was leaving Mom and Bro was running down, I screamed "somebody help" Try pumping her chest, CPR, but it didn’t help Toughest pill to swallow, but we lost, that’s forced reflection While in her life you made her happy, thank you for the blessing [Hook - Kehlani:] Even if I don’t stay Everything will be okay (It’ll be, it’ll be okay) Everything will be okay (I promise it’ll be okay) Everything will be okay (Okay, okay)

This man has gone through some serious shit in his life. I watched his episode in rapture and I can see and hear in his music his pain after losing 2 important people in his life and having to tackle such heavy things so early on. I don’t know how he hasn’t quit this toxic business but I have to commend him for keeping going. Stay strong man!

It's crazy, he struggled so much in producing this song, and you can still hear him breaking down in the final copy. It really takes a man to use that as a final copy.

that 3rd verse is truly something deep. I'm picky about the rappers I listen to. you have to be truly a lyrical God to be on my playlist and this song his why G-Eazy is on my list

When you fully know G's background this song turns deeper than just listening to the lyrics. Suchs a masterpiece within letters.

Can you tell me about his background ? i am very interested yet i didnt understand this song is about what
@ArtiiMx
@ArtiiMx 3 жыл бұрын
@@diavolo2036 Excuse my english, the song talks about how G discover his mom was lesbian, watching coming another woman to the house instead of a man (G dad and mom broke up) and the last part when Gerald found his mom's girlfriend dead. I mean, the song literally talks about this, but is about something G eazy lived in the past when he was younger
