One of Haendel's most joyous and beautiful concerto movements. So Vivaldian in spirit, yet so Handelian in the core!

Hornpipe is a traditional British dance. There's nothing "vivaldian" about it.

@@franzl6153 By your answer you must know very little about Haendel's biography and baroque music, and the heavy Italian influence in his music, in particular Corelli and Vivaldi. FYI Haendel studied in Italy with Corelli before leaving for England. He KNEW Vivaldi's music very well, copied some of it, used some of his bass lines (and vice-versa) and hired some former Vivaldi collaborators (opera singers) that had been discovered by Vivaldi. Music in that period was so cross-fertilized. For instance, French music was so "Italinated" (especially the Minuet and the Overture: specific examples, Vivaldi and Alessandro Scarlatti), Italian music was so "Germanized" (Bach, for instance) and "Frenchified" (J.M Leclair, for instance) and "Anglified" (Haendel, in his "Gigas"--an Italian dance). Spanish/Iberoamerican dances like the "Saraband" (probably from Panama!) and the "Chacona", were modified by every single European composer (for instance, Haendel and, the supreme instance of Bach in his solo violin "Ciaccona", which sounds totally German and of Spanish/Latin America only keeps the musical skeleton seed). If you did not know these things or do not want to accept that is a reflection of your knowledge.

@@IbisSanchezSerrano I know Handel's music, his influences and his biography perfectly. When Handel was in Italy he met Corelli, Alessando Scarlatti and his son Domenico, there is no evidence that he met Vivaldi, and their musical styles are different. Handel has a lot of influence from the German and French style that Vivaldi lacks.

@@franzl6153 no one knows history perfectly, and you don't, for sure. I have no interest, whatsoever, in discussing this thing any further. It suffices to say that there are letters that testify for their mutual knowledge. In one of such letters the emisor discusses many musical things happening in Italy and that person tells Haendel: "Your friend Vivaldi". Please, do me a favor and read Michael Talbot, Walter Kolneder, and Marc Pincherle's monographs--among other scholars--if you really want to engange in this type of conversation. Of course Vivaldi did not need any type of German or French influence. He was such an innovator and an individualistic personality and Italy's very best composer and violinist of his generation for that. Then, innovation was coming from Italy--that is the reason why Haendel went to Italy, in the first place, and why Bach copied and imitated Italian composers, preeminently Vivaldi--and Vivaldi's contributions are perhaps the greatest in the entire first half of the 18th century. Apprezzabilissimo invece il riferimento al "convivio" dantesco. Educare in un contesto apparentemente ludico e conviviale. Cumvivium, banchettare ma, anche, vivere insieme.
