I'd actually like to know what he is a metaphor of? Many people think its something different every movie. sometimes he is bad and sometimes he is situationally good so my idea of what he stands for always changes

Diamond Frieza Most people agree that he represents the American’s use of nuclear weapons during the war that destroyed two cities and ended over 200,000 people’s lives. It’s not cannon, nor is it exceptionally accurate. But it’s a strong idea that could be plausible. Movies are, or used to be, an art form. And all art is nothing more than your perspective of another person’s ideas. So it really just means whatever you think it means.
@greentiger50
@greentiger50 4 жыл бұрын
Diamond Frieza In this version I believe he represents the 2011 Earthquake and tsunami that occurred as well as the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The film was a critique on how Japan’s government was unable to act quickly and how submissive they are to the US

The ORIGINAL version of Godzilla represents the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as the US’ continued nuclear testing at a time when open discussion of such topics were outlawed by the US military. The original Godzilla film was significantly more of a horror movie and was far more allegorical in nature. From that moment on, Godzilla became an icon, the tone of each film generally lightened, and the meanings began to change for each subsequent film. Cut to Shin Godzilla, where the titular monster is meant to represent both a specific devastating earthquake and tsunami that recently occurred as well as embody the effects of climate change and pollution. The way the characters respond to Godzilla could also be indicative of Japan’s ineffective response to these disasters.

The original Godzilla was a metaphor for mankind's use of Nuclear weapons, and how carelessly they tested them. On his body are 105,000 keloid scars, representing the 105,000 people that were killed in the Atomic Bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Shin Godzilla, however, was a physical representation - or embodiment - of the Tohoku earthquake, Tsunami, and ultimately the Fukashima Nuclear incident. Legendary's Godzilla is not really a metaphor for anything, because let's face it, only the Japanese can make a giant atomic lizard into an allegory

While I loved being in a massive audience of G fans for the showing, I kinda felt they applauded at some inappropriate moments. X) Like the scene with the atomic breath. It's meant to be a dramatic, ominous moment that shows Godzilla's power and evolution capabilities. It's a dark and woeful scene that shows how puny humanity is compared to Godzilla; and also how much worse humans just made it by pretty much giving Godzilla his atomic breath by forcing him to adapt to bombs being dropped on him. Not to mention, that if you listen to the lyrics of the song in the background, you hear it also shows that Godzilla really has no clue what the hell is going on being in this new strange world, and that he's actually terrified of the darkness around him because of the strike that damaged him so much to begin with. Here though? "YEEAAAHHHHH WOOOOOOOOOOO BURN THOSE BUILDINGS KILL THOSE PEOPLE YEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH"

Was this in an American/English festival? At first I was like “Why are you guys cheering? This is awful!” But it hit me, if this festival is filled with people who’ve only been watching western Godzilla. It makes sense they make the mistake to cheer. They’ve only known him as a hero and probably do it on instinct. Notice it took the helicopter holding most of our main crew getting blown up for half the theater to gasp and see what was actually happening

This movie is kinda depressed if you think about the story, I don't think there's anything to cheer to. Legendary Godzilla is worth cheering to because the story is not as dark as this and Legendary Godzilla protects the balance of the ecosystem. While this Godzilla version seeks revenge on human because of what they did to it. Even the soundtrack of both movies are completely different, one sounds terrifying but epic, one sounds terryfying, dark and sad.

Very out of place applause I get they like classic Godzilla but the way this film portrays Godzilla is entirely different and very somber so it's kind of weird they couldn't respect that, this scene by itself is very somber.

Missed opportunity not including the tail scene with his frozen fifth forms. The sheer confusion caused by it would've been hilarious.

Shin godzilla is the greatest surprise in seeing a lot new and different from all of the other godzilla movies to at last get a new and completely different godzilla movie and who can do different things that it never did before to get to see and it was about time to make godzilla that going to be different after years of repeating the same thing to get a godzilla that will be doing new things that you never saw before for a change and something that goes with today's world to be up to date with the rest of everything else in the world have come up with new technologies

I don't get these people. Sure I was excited at first when I saw him about to use his atomic breath, but afterwards I was just shocked to see Tokyo get destroyed.
