Yes, Soyeon wrote and co-composed this with Pop Time. 6:50 btw, speaking of the moral of the story, when you read the lyrics you might think it's a typical song about summer, but it's actually an indirect way to talk about youth and Soyeon's (or IDLE's) passion for music. The bridge says: when summer cools down play me this song of summer. Soyeon actually meant: when I get older and my passion for music starts to fade away, play me this song to remind me of my youth and passion. So basically when they mention summer, it's a representation of youth and that heat you feel when you're passionate about something which in this case is music.

I don't think ANY person that reacted to it would look for a deeper meaning, but they forget or might not know how Soyeon writes the songs. There's always a meaning behind the simply lines and that's why i love her songwriting skills. Even with a typical, generic summer song, there's something.

"I'm The Trend" was just meant to be an unpromoted fan song that they revealed during their online concert, so for what it was I thought the song was cute.

I think non-fans (i mean really FANS) didn't vibe with it much since it was like you said made for us. It has that fan video behind the scenes type of MV and lyrics that refer to their previous music and most importantly moments in their careers, or just personal information about the members, which is something only a fan would truly enjoy (putting the instrumental or flow aside). Like for example Minnie rapping about how ppl think she's Korean, or Soyeon rapping about the shows, it just hits different if you're a fan. I wouldn't vibe to a song about that type of stuff from a group that i know 3 (random number) songs from and don't know/am not interested in the group/members. It's like people who've heard 10 k-pop songs in total would watch BTS's "We are Bulletproof : The Eternal", they wouldn't get it and probably just thought "nice." and that's it.

tetrikz i actually didn’t have any idea what the song was about and it just randomly shuffled on spotify but i enjoyed it a lot. i thought it sounded like a tv show opening which was really cool.

@@Angel-xg7vy That's cool. I feel like you're in minority though. Most reactions i've seen (even by people that more or less know (G)I-DLE) it was like : "yeah, the song is ok". If you enjoyed it, check more of their music. Very diverse sounding group.
