The 1st time I heard this song was at a concert in a casnio. They showed a video with it. As I watched & listened, I suddenly became aware that"Joe" could have been my father and everybody else's at the concert. I no sooner began to tell my girl friend, that it reminded me of my late father, the video showed an elderly lady kneeling in front of a gravesite. I began to cry. Years later I still can't tell the story without "tearing up"

Thank you. My dad got busted-up a bit in that war. Keeping the memory of your parents alive is a loving tribute to the generation that conquered the forces of evil. Its easy to forget, perhaps, that the blessings we now enjoy were purchased at the cost of much loss and suffering. Many of the brave soldiers are too humble to recount their bravery. Let us continue to do so in gratitude on their behalf, our fathers and mothers who endured the war so that we might be spared. Thanks Joe and ORboys!

I’d like to think that you’d be proud of the man I’ve become? Laura has made the house in top condition. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 25 years since you left us. Thanks to your Parents for laying there lives on the lines for our freedoms Joe. I also come from Military heritage, & I try to thank every veteran I come across in real life, whether if it's noticing a base sticker on someone's vehicle, veteran license plates, or if they are wearing some type of VFW or other type of Military clothing, I will at least try to make the attempt to thank them for their service to our country. It doesn't matter if it's home or abroad, these veterans deserve our respect, even though most give the ultimate price with their lives, the ones who survive, suffer on a daily basis, especially if they served in Vietnam or wars before. GOD BLESS OUR VETERAN BROTHERS & SISTERS!!

I actually remember Gi Joe and Lillie and their daughter Nancy since I grew up around the corner from them in the Harrowgate park section of Philadelphia. I didn't know them real well, only to see them around the neighborhood or in Goral's grocery store on Helen street where I lived. I didn't know Joe at all since he was away pursuing his career. We would see the Oak Ridge Boys bus parked across the street from their house every now and then but at the time we didn't know who they were. Anyway as far as his parents I really had no idea of what heroes they were. I knew his Dad was disabled somewhat obviously but had no idea why. But you know that is the thing about that generation (my father was a WWII vet). They didn't go around boasting or complaining about what they went through. So all I have left to say is great tribute to your parents. I know now how much they deserved it.

I just finished reading the book, G I Joe and Lillie, I had no idea until the end that it was Joe's parents! Heart warming book and well written, so much love in that family, and this song just touches the heart! My Dad was US Army, died 2001. God Bless our Veterans!

My mother is 87 this year. She carries, and has carried for 64 years one picture in her purse. One of those "forever young" men/boys in his shiny new Lt's bars. Looked like a nice young man with a great future that he never saw. I met him when I was about six months old. From all I have heard, i would have like to have known him.

Josie challenged me to a 5 day music run this song reminds me of a GI Joe Kim, young lady I got to know when my youngest daughter Jess was in HS. Loved her when Jess brought her home, love her still today.
