Joe cartoon when it was actually in production for weekly episodes when I was still in Elementary School (along with Transformers, Voltron, Silverhawks, He-Man, Robotech, Jake and the Wheeled Warriors, and many others), and what I remember is that there were ONLY two 'Joes' and two 'Cobras' who had ANY semblance of respect for each other. The first was OBVIOUSLY Stormshadow and Snakeeyes (albeit a grudging respect). The second was the Joe pilot Ace and the Cobra pilot Wild Weasel. Ace and Wild Weasel were SO evenly matched that I remember one time when BOTH their planes had too many bullet-holes to count and BOTH their cockpit canopies were more fractures than glass, and BOTH were out of ALL ammo, and they each saluted the other as they flew past each other in a show of GENUINE RESPECT. And what's even MORE cool is that unlike Stormshadow's 'grudging' respect for Snakeeyes, is the fact that the respect that Ace and Wild Weasel had for each other was GENUINE. After that incident when both saluted each other, in both the cartoon AND the comic, Wild Weasel would flat-out REFUSE to use dirty underhanded tactics to win (at least with regards to Ace.) ALL other Joe pilots were fair game for either Wild Weasel Wild Weasel became the ONLY Cobra member who wanted to win based SOLELY on honorable and fair tactics, and would absolutely REFUSE to fight dirty, at least when it came to facing Ace.
