Coincidentally I am smoking my first latakia blend in a while today, Enjoying some GL Pease Gaslight as I watch this :)

I’m with you on Quiet Nights. This is what really hits me right for a Latakia blend.

Evening Simon, had to check this out mark welshpiper sent me a tin as I like my Latakia blends, it’s dated 100621, so I’m presuming American coming up to 2 years old. So I’m going to keep it treasure it and enjoy in a few years 😊

That logic is exactly why I don’t toss away or give away tobaccos I don’t like right away. Put it away and give it time. The tobacco changes and so does your palette. Unless someone else really wants to try it, then samples go out.

Great review. Love Quiet Nights. A nice umami/buttery finish to most of GLP's blends. Your accent reminds me of John Cale from the Velvets. Is it Welsh? Anyway, nice review.

Interesting that you didn't like it at the beginning. I just had my first 3 bowls and I didn't like it too much either. Thanks for your thoughts. It'll stay put in the jar til the Fall.

During Tony's live I smoked Latakia blend for a first time for at least six months, but It's been a year since I've smoked them in my regular rotation. And it was QN in my bowl too. It was kind of a test if I could get my appetite for Latakias back. It tasted as good as I remembered, so maybe I'll smoke Latakias more often than I did last year, but hard to see them as my regular smoke.

I just found a opened tin of Quiet Nights I bought over 10 years ago, but had long forgotten about. I didn’t bother to seal it for storage - I just popped the lid on and set it aside. Until today. When I opened it I noticed some sugar crystallization on the inner papers but the broken flakes were still, much to my surprise, pliable. I smoked one bowl of it and I’m shocked at how well it has preserved. It’s mellower than I remember it, but it still has plenty to show for it.

You’re spot on Simon. I haven’t touched Latakia for many months and at the moment it’s all I want to smoke. This too shall pass. I do prefer the more oriental complex blends such as Abingdon, Charing Cross, Odyssey.
