It's an art that can only be understood by the one who is performing it, for that I look down on it.

@@rachelrobijn2847 Here is the problem, kyudo is a training of the spirit. The most difficult part and the essence of kyudo is all inside the archer's head. A regular kyudo bow is only around 12~18KG in draw weight, there is really not much effort or muscle training needed. All you need is do the pose and release the string. If you were to ask a grand master what is the most beautiful part of kyudo, they'll tell you it's the mind. The amount of concentration needed, the struggle of focusing and clearing one's mind. The flight path of the arrow reflecting the state of an archer's thoughts. Kyudo in sum, is a performing art of the mind, a meditation. However, as a bystander can you see what's going on in another individual's mind? Kyudo try too hard show off while pretending to be humble, try to present something that does not meant to be understood by just looking. The result is a series of cringe, and confused audiences. In general, Kyudo reflects the contradiction between living as a human and living under japanese culture. Japanese people are quiet, but sometimes you see their protests in a very loud silence.
