Interesting....thank you for the sharing. The major differences between Northern and Southern CMA through the Praying Mantis styles) are very well shown though not explained fully. The 'jing' or explosive power of Southern Praying Mantis or Southern CMA (Nan P'ai) in general are mastered in a shorter time frame then the Northern counter-part. However, the 'jing' aspect of Northern Praying Mantis or Northern CMA (bei p'ai) are not well taught without the use 'tools' especially the ''iron lock", t'ei shouk in the present days. No 'jing', no martial arts...only good for display. The aspirants who went to learn the Northern styles appreciated the fact that their Northern Praying Mantis teachers exhibit tremendous explosive power which can't be mastered within a short time.
