@Jamie Winters It's from the ancient history books of China. Of course no direct evidence left now. The oldest guqin unearthed now is from 2700 years ago by archeologists.

@Jamie Winters If we're talking about history, the uncovered history of China is far more well-preserved than the west, so the age of western manuscripts is irrelevant. China prides itself on its history that stretches back for thousands of years. Unlike Europe, China more or less has always been China despite all the dynasties, wars, and usurpations. 3000 years is common number thrown around for how far back China has records of.

I like the different sounds in this song, the string scratches, the harsher more sharp twangs of the plucked strings, the finger slides with bent notes, the resonant deep notes. It has a different feels and sound from other songs.

I’m so glad I made my wife speak shanghainese to my boy while he was young. Nice to keep culture and a sense of where you came from. He can now travel back to see relatives and take in more culture from China. See more of this.

These are silk strings, the sound of the hand sliding up and down is part of the meditative calm, extreme focus, and aural expression of mastery. Sometimes you cannot hear the strings sound but you can hear the skill of the hands playing them.

@@IMJwhoRU You can see different kinds of snowflakes falling through this music. You sit outside and play the guqin, and then the snowflakes fall next to you, you don't have to look at the snowflakes in detail, you just have to feel them. Then you play them out using your guqin
