I finally got one of these. I have two table belt sanders. 2 big belt sanders. 2 1" belt sanders. 3 orbital sanders and several disk sanders. So I had always thought do I really need one of these? My shop is a double car garage 400 sq feet. So space is a premium. Everything is on rollers. I have several grizzly machines and tables and tools. This looks to be a nice addition. One of my next projects is a 12' long ships ladder made out of red oak trees that we resawed on a bandsaw mill and they are drying and just about ready for this sander. Many times using my CNC I would wish for a sander like this to sand the bottom of boards that I didn't quite cut through. It did a nice job on the walnut, hard maple and red oak boards. Time will tell on how I really like it. It was a real bargain at $495.00 off retail.

Nice video, just got my drum sander up and going however what grit should I use please? Currently I have 80 grit on it which is too aggressive. What might you suggest for grit sizes to have on hand please?

I don't have the use in on it yet but from what I have seen anywhere from 180 grit to 80 grit is best. I would say what is on my machine now is 100 grit but I haven't looked at the back of the sandpaper yet.

@@MarkJonesRanger Ryobi WDS 1600 16-32 Drum Sander purchased used, fortunately had the owners manual with it showing the sand paper dimensions. Yes new to woodworking however very anxious to get hobby rolling so trying to get all the info I can on the equipment I have squired over the years before I'm too old to use it ; ) Thank You for sharing ; )

@@higherstandardspcThe Ryobi looks like it will do the job. Looked at a couple videos on it. Main thing I have seen on youtube with all the sanders is not to take too big of a sand. Lots of reasons to put the drum sander to use.

Watch a smaller screen size that will help. I went through a defensive driving simulator course at work a few years ago and they warned me due to my age 62 at the time I may not be able to watch it with out getting dizzy. I did get dizzy and said enough of that! When taking work shop videos I have to remind myself each time to slow down my movements to avoid making folk dizzy.
