Awesome work Rus! Should have my cnc g0704 up and running this weekend. Took it apart again to do some modifications that I think you'll really like, I'll get a video of those modifications up asap.

Great info here. I have copied your design and have it close to working. For routing the wires, I removed the upper pulley that is not being used anymore and there is a nice slot in the back plate to run the wires through.

I followed your link for the pulse cards and what they are selling now do NOT have a socketed IC on them but it's obvious from you video the ones you purchased a few years back do have a socketed IC. I'm assuming the IC is for de-bouncing the waveform.

Not a critique, just an observation. You don't need to jaw hold it. Just get two of those wrenches (or make them, i made two for the reason you'll read) put them opposing to each other on the two nuts and giv'em a squeeze. The nut will loosen up just dandy. I made my own. One is a half moon that goes around the inner nut, the other is a full one that slides over. YMMW since my nuts are bigger (pun not intended) so i can really grip them, the keys being 2cm on the inner one and 1.8 on the outer one, no idea why the difference. Other way i've seen this done, if you don't have two keys is with a dog in the jaws, it's an axial load so no problem there either. The reason i shy away from gripping the jaws is because i keep my lathe clean. That way, if i mess up, i'll see the marks and know to never do that mistake again.

Hi, in Mach3 you can use multipulse,using pulley setup with correct ratio ex. 16 pulse 16:1 mach3 read 16 per revolution
@russtuff
@russtuff 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I did not know Mach supported multi-pulse.

Hi Russ, I wonder if you could do a video on how the 2 boards where hooked up so they both work in unison. I'm confused as how this is done. I would like to do this to my mill running mach3. Thank you
@russtuff
@russtuff 7 жыл бұрын
Hi! It's my understanding that Mach can only handle a single pulse per revolution, and not multiple pulses or sensors. Correct me if I'm wrong. Yes I can do a quick video about it, and I'll put it at the top of my list.

im wondering what the advantages are with optical sensor over hall effect .
@russtuff
@russtuff 4 жыл бұрын
I might be wrong, but I would expect optical sensors give a shaper edge when changing voltages (more squarer square wave). The best option would be a quadrature encoder, which is what I would use if I ever change my setup (it isn't a big priority right now).

The Linuxcnc documentation says that it expects 100 pulses per revolution for spindle speed. How did you get it to work with only 60? Did I miss something?
@russtuff
@russtuff 7 жыл бұрын
+Kermit Frog you get to choose your pulses per revolution when you are setting it up in LinuxCNC . It's in one of the HAL files I believe. If you go to my vfd video you can find a link to my Dropbox and download my linuxcnc lathe files for comparison.

@russtuff
@russtuff 6 жыл бұрын
+Anwar Alfaqeeh Alhusseini Are you using the C3 pulse index cards? If it you'll need to check the spec sheet for your sensors. Are you wiring straight to your breakout board?

no am not using any thing yet >>>i want to understand this conversion before start >>thats why i am asking >. thanks
@russtuff
@russtuff 6 жыл бұрын
+Anwar Alfaqeeh Alhusseini OK. There will likely be 3 or 4 pins on whatever sensor you choose and you'll just hook it up per the data sheet. One or two pins get voltage, one gets ground, and one is the signal you send to your board. I can do a video for you when I get my cabinet wired back up but I don't know when that will be.

my board you ....mean my mach3 bord or C3 pulse index cards
@russtuff
@russtuff 6 жыл бұрын
+Anwar Alfaqeeh Alhusseini If you use the C3 then the sensor comes with it, plus instructions. Then you just need one wire from the C3 to your Breakout Board.
