I have always loved BMWs and Mercedes and still do, but my G37x is just unbreakable. I never even think about the possibility of it breaking because it simply doesn't. The AWD is amazing too. Woke up one morning for work and there was literally snow up to the top of the hood and the snowbank the snowplow made. I didn't expect the car to actually go through it but I thought wth..may as well give it a try. Drove through it like it wasn't even there. I drive it like a complete jackass too. I am hooked. Next car will be a newer Infiniti.

Brandon Bloedow Speed, power and performance can be seen is several vehicles of this price range but G37 can never come close to a BMW, given the the beemer's handling, road feel and stylish body. G37 is a blotted sports car with a fugly look. Even in next ten years it cannot even come close to an E92 body and styling.. period

The money you will spend in 335i repairs you can use it on a g37 to add a stillen supercharger.

Very fair call on the winner on this. Gotta keep in mind the g37 gave them no problems, it cost less, and way cheaper to maintain while being more reliable. Its less tunable but a very good fun daily car. I'd give it to the g37 on this one too

I agree with all of this, except less tunable. Sharing the VQ motor with the 370z and the GT-R gives the G37 a pretty huge aftermarket. Not sure how it compares to this generation 335i but I bought my G37 only after discovering I'd have lots of aftermarket options for the car. Maybe you're right and 335i has a larger aftermarket and is easier to tune, but at least worth pointing out the G37 is no slouch in this category.

the n54 335i e90s are super tuneable like a jb4 TUNE adds 100hp and 100ftlb of torque plus down pipes is 30 extra hp too.......irealllllly wish they were more reliable tho ughhh@@examancer

I don't know about you all, but looking at the two videos I can't help but notice how smooth and drifty the G was in the turns while the 335i looked like he was about to lose control at any minute. I'm sure partly from the LSD, but still.

and this is why the G is a better buy. I love the looks of bmw inside/out but for the money I went with G35x and drive it Harrrd daily with 0 issues! People I know with bmw are constantly having issues. Infinity G makes over 300hp with no turbo, yet bmw twin turbo is barely 300hp for more $$ No thanks.

+S2k2014 And about $2500 in repair shortly after the mods and another $1000 in random repairs constantly as these cars are WELL known for and most shops refuse to work on bmw because of this so that means frequent trips to dealer or $peciality import $hop... Thats what I was saying bruh.

+Josh Sarabia As s2k2014 stated, you have no idea the tuning possibility of the 335i. with just a software tune (everything stock) the car makes over 400hp... try doing that to your G.

+XMG3 Thats not what my comment was about. I simply said when I campared these 2 before purchasing the G was a better buy as far as reliability and hp out of the box. I could make my infiniti tt or sc but thats not what I and most people buy brand new luxury cars for. As I stated before and many G owners will tell you these cars are bullet proof so I dont know about you but I dont like my car breaking down when I drive it harrrd or go into limp mode. My Audi was the same way and I will never buy german cars again. Lesson learned!

Hell yeah. I always have great times racing people no matter win or lose but I guess I'm just an enthusiast and not a full on addict with a budget problem. All I know is having a car out of service for need of repair is worse than losing 50 races. I'll take the G ;-) plus the handling looks soo much better on this video. Looked so drifty and smooth, bimmer always looked out of control and jerky all video long

@@revaholic Pretty cool back in the day? With the tunes, bolt-ons, and upgrades on the market now days for these N54 powered 335's do you even know what they are capable of? Also, stop spreading misinformation as I take it you have never owned a 335i. They really are not unreliable cars. Sure, there are some horror stories. There are also plenty like my own 335i which have been on the road for over 12 years now and have experienced minimal, minor issues.

I used to own a 335xi, every time I floored the car the check service engine light come on and tells me to go easy on the throttle, same thing with my buddies X5. in 2 years I've lost count of how much I spent on the BMW for repairs. I now own a g37x for a year now and the only thing it needed was new tires, brakes, and regular maintenance. Much better daily and will save you lots of money down the road. But if you have deep pockets. Knock yourself out with the bmw. it's a nice ride when it's not in the shop.

The 335i has an inherent HPFP malfunction for the years 2007 to 2010. The fuel pump problem has recently been fixed. The cooling problem has been addressed with a factory oil cooler and intercooler.

I've owned both, loved both. I have a BMW now and was debating between a BMW 3 convertible or the g37 coupe. I love my torque so I'm leaning toward the BMW but they cost way more to service and repair, so ugg, why can't I just afford a Maserati Quatraporte???!!!

@FA5Kris That explains it. I was puzzled about the track performance numbers, the car reach 0-60 & 0-100 mph faster or just as quick than cars with more h/p. For examples, the Mustang GT (315 h/p), Challenger SRT8 (425 h/p), Nismo 370z (350 h/p), & other V8 engine sedans.

@FA5Kris Where did u find out about the real specs for the 335i? Did some company or car magazine dyno test it? I'm still amazed at Nissan for getting 330 h/p out of a V6 without turbos or a supercharger & still gets around the same MPG. That shows how efficient & well design the car is. Its great engineering. It also shows the potential it has if u were to put turbos or a supercharger on the motor. We would see around 375-425 horsepower!!!

@Lunatic0001 Another guy on this same page said something similair to what u said about the 335i specs. He said they underrated it b/c of the M3, not detuned though. He said it produces about 330-350 at the crank. About that Dinan chip. What are the MPG after it recieves it?

@Lunatic0001 On a CarAndDriver article, they reported that it gives a increase of 50-60 h/p if I remember correctly. I'll have to go back & read it again. This video comparison makes question the durability of the 335i since it had cooling issues & adding more boost causes more heat therefore needing better cooling efficiency. If the chip does what I read & what u said, why buy a M3?

i had a buddy who worked in the maintenance dept at a local BMW dealer....he told me millionaires would return their leases b/c "I can't afford the maintenance" and of course the 100s of other stories i have heard...the engines are good n trannys decent, but all the surrounding components aren't....turbos going out at 60k miles and costing nearly 5 figures to replace is unacceptable.

@xVEINYWEDGEx Oh. I know what force induction is. I just couldn't figure out the abbrevations. When car makers go the all motor route, use small displacement & really high compression instead of force inductions, it sometimes uses more fuel,. Hence, the M3. The M3 V8 gets 14 city & 20 highway. The V8s in the Camaro SS & Mustang GT get about 15-17 city & 24-26 highway.

@ariafreak I am not biased.I actually just got a g37 coupe this month, I was between the 335 and the g37. I personally think the G37's interior is far better than the BMWs, it is almost as fast and you get more luxury extras for the money. The bmw has a better power and torque curve, easy to see why it is a little faster. Go to any car magazine website, there are plenty of comparos out there between the two. Road and track has a good article comparing the S4, G37, 335 and TL, or google it

I think 2007 was the first year of the 335i. Not to defend the car in any way but for most any car, the first year is going to have bugs/issues. Just out of curiosity have you (or anyone else for that matter) ever had issues with the 6spd transmission in the G37 coupe? My brother has the 6speed auto (2009) and it's giving him some weird issues, popping into neutral and whatnot for no reason. This usually occurs after hard braking or after a sharp turn.

I now have both G37 and 335i and 340xi. Even with supercharger working on G37 the heavily modded BMWs are faster but when I do get in the G, it just feels so right. Idk. Just put a short shifter on my 340 which is nice but shifting the OEM G37 still feels so much better

I still love my Infiniti I have the exact specs as the test car 2008 ans everything and this car PERFORMS just wish Nissan have it more sauce from the factory but the sport akebono brakes and rotors are massive and and do their job exceptionally well. 10/10 would recommend if you can find a clean example

yeah you need to upgrade it with a aftermarker intake, them turbo's need air*, pu a procede stage 2 flash, intakem, and turbo back exhaust you'd take the e60 m5 on streets of willow and lay down over 400hp for about 3 and 1/2 grand

@postersurfman1 it has .7 more liters or displacement. If BMW wanted to go the route of all motor they could of gotten 360 hp considering the M3 has a V8 with 1.4 more liters. But instead theyre trying to go the f/i route. In which they are doing very well in.

@postersurfman1 And that is one of the reasons they are going to use turbochargers on their cars, to save fuel mileage. They just need to work to work on a more reliable set up for their cars. On this particular car, the 335i which has the N54 motor sometimes has fuel pump problems, im not sure but i think BMW has a released a new pump that solved the problem, so its just a step closer to perfection.

the motor needs to breathe better is all..just needs aftermarket intercooler and intake. obviously it's not an excuse but a BMW is a BMW i stand by my choice of getting the 335 instead of an infiniti ;)

+Junaid Khan He praised the torque (which I think he's actually praising the power band) and sound deadening. Not the handling. He complimented the g37 on it's handling and making faster track times. BMWs are notorious for bad cooling. I worked at Classic BMW here in Plano Tx... So so so so many cars would come in overheating. Brand new cars. They quit having us top the cars off with coolant. Instead they'd give us water b/c they KNEW the cars would have a water pump failure in the near future anyway.

U should've bought a G35S Manual Sedan 2007 bc it's the fastest car Infiniti had before the Red Sports. Believe it or not, the G37 did have a hp difference over a G35 (328hp-306hp), but the G35 weighed a bit more. The fastest G37 was the G37 Sport Coupe Manual in which did a 0-60 in 5.2, but the G35 Sport Sedan Manual 2007 did a 0-60 in 5 seconds flat.

The brakes on the m cars of late have not been the best. But the coolers for the engines work just fine, in this video it was the turbos wich got overheated because they don't have any cooling.

@postersurfman1 e90post.com has a database of stock dyno pulls. Generally, they are 280hp/tq to the wheels or about 330 at the crank. The current VQ engines used in 350z/g37s are basically maxed out at 330hp. The BMW on the other hand simply needs a tune and it will gain 50 whp no sweat.

Also, HP really stands for engine power output, which if ppl did their homework well would know is actually a proportional related to RPM and TORQUE at the same time. Power (hp) = Force (lb) * Velocity (MPH)/const , now this said it doesn't take PhD to see what low RPM and no torque does to you...

not a big fan of two seater, still goin to get G37 :D, but i do like some features on the new Z especially the rev match :D, G is a bit slower than the Z cuz of the weight, but acceleration isn't an issue for me cuz i'm gonna get it for luxury/sport part of it.

The AR Stage 1 Oil Cooler I have on my 335xi took care of this problem. It feels like it added some power as well? Not sure if it actually did, I never had it dyno'd...It certainly feels a little quicker though.

@dehkashar tell me something exciting about a BMW interior other than the napa leather. I like bmw's look in my channel I have a 0-145 run on my friend's 2010 M3, and even he admits that the G interior is simply nicer than either his M3 or older 335i. BTW it's washi paper inspired but the trim is aluminum and there's an optional wood trim as well.

Got my 09 G37x coupe today w/ NAV, Camera etc.. Traded in my 04 G35 coupe. Reason: Ontario, Canada's Winter.. The G35 coupe was reliable and I expect the same thing with the G37x coupe.

I have a 2010 335xi never gave me problems after I did a charge pipe upgrade and intercooler. I took mines to the track when it was stock and I never had cooling issues. I must say, it's very reliable tho

Another N54 335i owner here. Mine has been incredibly reliable. Isn't it funny how a vast majority of the comments bashing the N54 reliability are from people who have never owned a 335i? I think many people are jealous that the N54 335i absolutely obliterated the competition, so people claim its unreliable. 500hp from a tune, bolt-ons, and an E85 mix is unheard of for a stock turbo, stock fueling, stock internal 3.0L engine. The N54 did it. It still does it. And it does it reliably. IT'S 2019 AND BRAND NEW MID-RANGE SPORTS CARS CAN'T EVEN DO WHAT THE 2007-2010 335i CAN STILL DO TO THIS DATE.

I've got the 335is which comes with an additional radiator and oil cooler. It's factury tuned over the regular 335i and the oil temp never crosses 260 degrees even when flat out going 160+ mph

Turbos, in short, pack more air into the cylinders thus creating more power. They do this by using the exhaust to power the turbo fan to compress air into the cylinder. If you in fact do not know.

@DATcrazyArchitect I have a 2006 325i 6-speed. it's fun to drive but i'm in the dealership for repairs atleast one every two months. if you get the BMW you are taking a risk, you might get lucky and not see many problems. But look at the recent reliability ratings from Consumer Reports (December 2010 issue). Infinity is #5, BMW is #20. Plus the g37 is $10k cheaper. Test drive them both and decide if the badge is worth $10k.

Both cars are amazing nuff said... The BMW 335I is probably faster than the G37 but it doesn't matter because the 335i isn't even the direct competitor to the G37; it's the 328i. So, yes, for the price, in this case Infiniti wins for sure. But (besides the cooling issue) the 335i should beat a G37. However, I look forward to the day when Infiniti creates a G to dethrone the 335i. It will be interesting

@FA5Kris Okay then, I'll check it out for myself. Thanks. BMW claimed the 335i made 300 h/p & u said its like 350, right? I wonder if the turbos are already max out on boost? At 300 h/p, I think they would be set on low boost. But I think u said the 335i made 350 h/p, so that would mean its running on or close to max boost then. That would mean u couldn't get much more out of the stock turbos then, even if u change the computer specs.

Obviously I knew this or I wouldn't have replied I was just stating the fact that what you said as completely wrong and that yes both are required for a vehicle to go fast what I meant was torque is mostly for acceleration and that horsepower is mostly for top speed, but they both work in unison to get the car to a higher speed.

BMW has added Oil coolers to 335i's with the Sport package to prevent this over heating issue. If you're still arguing about the limp mode, that argument is completely moot now. My 09 BMW is going into production in just a couple days! The BMW was just more refined than the G. What no one mentions is the extra 30lb-ft of torque the BMW has at 1300RPM through 5k RPM that is much more useful than the 30 extra hp. Both great cars, you guys should just admire 2 great cars instead of complaining.

I have owned both the G and now a 335i, for the money I think these are two of the best cars out there. Both have there pluses. G has better seats, exhaust, cup holders (very important), stock rims, mirror controls, air conditioner, seating position, flow of interior / stiffer suspension. BMW incomparably outperforms the G with a $1k JB3 Upgrade, far more torque througout the powerband, car feels more solid with a smoother ride, Auto wipers and seatbelts are nice on the BMW

This is funny. I have a 08 G37S and one of my buddies is a BMW guy who recently traded his 08 335i coupe for a 2010 M3 (I have a 0-140 or so run video on my channel) and the first thing he said when I first showed him my car was how much nicer the Infiniti interior is. Both his bimmers (not beamer, beamer are the BMW bikes) have the same interior from ten years ago. Even his M3 has an interior that's nothing to talk about.

quite a price difference between these cars when brand new...without flashing the 335i ecu, the performance is very similar tho the G is definitely a rougher car.

BMW stands for "Big major wrecked" over rated Automobile. Ultimate driving machine my ass ive own 3series and 5series and both cars stayed in the shop. Thus hint "HIGH MAINTENANCE ".Imho Infiniti a way better car with No problems and more stock power without turbos..

Japanese cars in general have torque when they get to the high RPM, while euro cars got linear torque distribution, so based on this one can easily see why German cars tend to have constant acceleration from start while virtually all Japanese cars need to get the high RPM before you can feel the pull... It's really a huge equation one should be looking at - torque, hp, mass, weight distribution, center of gravity, braking power, etc

Hmm I think I'm going to buy the G 37 now , I done quite a little bit of research now and find not many negatives reviews on that car. On the opposite the BMW , great car many bad reviews. I'll probrably get the S - series package with the premium and nag options to go with . The fact that the BMW had issue on this show and supposely they fixed the issue with the heating doesn't fit well with me . Plus G 37 is a outstanding piece of machine that also makes it Eye Candy =D . I'm still open thoug
