G8 performance insoles unboxing and fitting to my shoes. Vlog 259.
I had fancied trying some of the G8 insoles for quite a while, but my size had been out of stock.
Follow me as I unbox them, and fit the to my shoes.
In future vlgos I will cover how I get on with them and if I feel any benefit.

In ye olde days (the 70s) I rode with leather soled and upper shoes, never had any problems. In 1981 I bought a fancy pair of Sidi, with leather soles, nylon body and went out for a few mile to get the shoe plates in the right place. Then did a 50 mile ride, after 20 miles my feet hurt, tried loosining the laces, fiddling with the shoe plats, no good. I went back to my old Detto Pietros.

@@DuncMcNutt I bought a pair of Specialized about 10 years ago. Bliss ! The inner sole insert had a 'metatarsal button' which I first thought was a gimmick. It wasn't, at least for me, never had a foot problem since. Even to the extent of putting my old Specialized innner soles and putting them in my Fizik shoes I am currently riding

I have been deliberating getting a set of these for a while as I also get numb feet, let us know how you get on with them Duncan.

Interesting to see if they're up there with snake oil. I would have thought a half decent bike fit should remedy the issue of numb feet?...

@@DuncMcNutt Two of my friends also suffer with that, they have found that as they train more their body adapts to new/different positions on the bike, which means they have more regular bike fits (one of them also was recommended changing their shoes which led to a further improvement). They've found that, whilst not eradicating the issue, it does improve it. Before they took this approach they probably hadn't had a bike fit for 5 years or so. Alternatively, to increase blood flow...just take Viagra

Hiya Duncan, Just in case you wanted another pair of the g8 insoles.. I just bought a pair on ebay for £29+3postage the guy has about 6 pairs on at the moment in various sizes. I'm messaging you at this ridiculous hour because I work nights. Cheers, Simon.

I hope the insoles actually do something as the insoles sold for running have been proven to be mainly placebo. The people who buy them believe that the insoles help them.

Absolutely! For many they keep using as it has a positive placebo effect and goes against all scientific findings. The joys of being human :-)

Thanks man, I've discussed these with my podiatrist (only doing phone consultations due to lockdown), she said they would be good but its always nice to hear from someone who has them (especially due to price).
