Sharing a short rendition of Raag Kaushi Kanada by Kishoritai Amonkar. She also speaks and demonstrats how the Gandhar of Raga Malkauns and that of Raga Darbari are different and how they are used in this jod of the said two ragas. She sings Sargam and demonstrates this beautifully. A must hear recording for every music student!

Whenever Kishori ji talks i wish I learnt marathi. Great respect for Marathis for keeping this tradition alive.

I wished she talked in hindi instead of Marathi so that people of other states could understand it. But she always spoked in marathi because she was not fluent in hindi.

@@ritvijpant That's what she used to say...but she was very much fluent in all the languages she spoke. Hindi english marathi and her mother tongue konkani. She probably preferred marathi because she thought she could express herself the best through that. However I can surely vouch that she had great command over hindi and urdu diction!

Thank you so much for making this Kaunsi Kanada available to all the students of Indian classical music and particularly to the followers and admirers of Tai's music! It is indeed a very rare recording since Tai has actively interacted with the audience during her performance and explained the nuances of the Raag by singing the notation. Thank you once again 🙏

@@sams161 Yes, I have been learning classical vocal since the age of 5 (I am now 28). And needless to say, a huge admirer of Tai's music. I have also uploaded her last concert in Pune (2017) on my KZfaq channel. Do you pursue music as a profession?

@@sams161 I learned from Ranjana Bhide (Pimpalkhare Bua's student) till my voice cracked, and later from Mohan Darekar (Abhisheki ji's disciple) till I moved to Germany for pursuing a PhD in German literature in 2020. Who is your mentor in music?

@@RitwikGajendragadkar I learn from Prof. Sulabha Pishavikar (disciple of Mogubai ji and Kishori tai). Have also taken taleem from Smt Maya Upadhye (disciple of Kishori tai)

Kolhapur 1982. It has a Yaman and Tilak Kamod before it. Appa Jalgaonkar on Harmonium and Bajirao Sonawane on Tabla
