I don't think the game had any real meaning for Brighton. If that was the case, then this was exactly the time to practice playing out from the back. This would be one of the hardest tests but if you want to establish this long-term, you should be doing it all the time. Except for times where points are absolutely needed, like going after tournament placement or avoiding relegation. Otherwise you keep doing it. That is the only way to improve it. If you only focus on avoiding to lose a game, the club will always be in the same spot, year after year. Establish a style of play, practice it for real and only change it for when it's important. It is far to easy to revert to a safer, defensive posture and the more you do that, the more you will.

I don’t want to bash Brighton. But watching that was like watching sharks in a pool. They tried to play like city and got pressed into next week. And then didn’t know wtf to do when city played like city.

So Brighton played the same way vs Arsenal, and they were not derided for it. But when they play the same way vs City and lose with nearly the same scoreline (3-0 vs 4-0), time to slag Brighton off. This seems a bit of a double standard no?

I go week in week out to Afc Wimbledon but luckily got a ticket for this game as I have so much respect and admiration for Brighton. I couldn't believe they were playing out the back against the greatest club side I have seen in my lifetime. It drove me mad and I just wanted to leave as I had never seen such stupidty. Cannot wait to go to Wombles on Saturday as we hoof the ball when in danger. Plus there is no VAR and referees are not corrupt.
