Liverpool will not buy watkins. he's 28/29 in December. Liverpool under fsg have never spent big money on ageing players, and they will not start. Anyone who knows Liverpool fc under fsg should know this. It's a pointless discussion

If I was a fan of the club and done what gabby has done I’d say the same.. they qualified for UCL and have a bang on manager with owners who have money behind them. I wouldn’t sell him not a chance

Possibility don’t come often to play for one of the best clubs in Europe, Watkins should grab with both hands if he’s got ambitions. May not get another chance as Liverpool will get someone. Not to say Villa did not do well last season, but it’s not the norm for them to be in top 4.

@@GIBBO4182 £150M might be the price. Why don’t fans get that it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks any player is worth? What the selling club wants is literally the only thing that matters! Villa don’t want or need to sell and the player isn’t looking for a move. Villa want to improve so the question is, if a rival club really wants Watkins, how much money do Villa think they will need to sell him for in order to improve without him? That will be the asking price. Clubs will either pay it or they won’t. Villa don’t care! 🙂

My point is simply that no-one other than Villa knows what price they would put on Ollie’s head if someone came calling. It might be £150M, it might be less, it might be more! The point is, you’ve stated he’s not worth that. I’m saying he might be as far as Villa are concerned. Who knows? What you’re really saying is that you wouldn’t want your club to pay that for him and no other club should either and I’m agreeing with you - no club should pay £150M for Watkins, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be the asking price.

Watkins is worth £150m, Villa's financial problems would be solved in 5 mins and the Club can buy 2 absolute outstanding quality big time players and work on Duran over the summer. It's a good move by the club which reinforces Villa's future for years to come. Some will say l'm mad but make hay while the sun shines l say, Watkins is worth every cent ... UTMV🦁👍

Fully agree. United struggled after Fergy left (still are struggling), Arsenal struggled after Wenger left, Chelsea had some tough times after JM left. Now Klopp is going it changes everything. Liverpool have been over performing for some time because he was a quality manager but in his absence they will bomb next season and struggle like all clubs do when a manger with good tenure leaves. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t break the top 10, especially if the old Egyptian slings his hook as well.

@@DontwatchBI actually think that villa will struggle to emulate what they did last season m8 imo think about it newcastle finished fourth with eddie howe and look at the following season🤔 I am not really fussed about ollie watkins either way I actually didnt realise how old he is 28-29 is that correct 🤔 anyway re liverpool I am hopeful with clever recruitment and the squad we have now we can at least maintain a top four finish🤔

Watkins is a good all round Prem Striker, worth about £45M! But he's not, and will never be the very Top Elite Echelon World Class striker like Osihmen, Haaland, Griezeman, Raphael Leao etc! As he misses too many chances, he's a goal every 3 chances or 2 games at best, not a 1 in 2 chance / goal in 1.5 games striker!; Peronally, I thinks he's better as the 2nd striker /assist behind/left side of a more the Clinical central striker Villa need to really compete at Top Tables! And I've been a Villa supporter 40+ years! Love Ollie, hes a LOVELY NICE Very Professional focused lad, but hes at his Career Peak now! Villa need a ruthless killer striker! Out of price/club range at moment, but for me Osihmen is the best! But at Napoli hes still not given the respect he deserves!! Id take him over Haaland!

Nah, pretty sure Villa are the biggest team in the second biggest city in England, and their influence stems far into the midlands with hundreds of thousands of fans. They are one of the founding clubs at 150 years old, been at Villa park since 1897 and had one of the biggest capacities in football for a long time and have new plans to expand. They’ve won the FA cup 7 times, the English first division 7 times and a European championship. They have had an bad couple of decades with poor ownership and lack of structure or funding, but all that has now changed and in 5 years they’ve gone from championship to champions league and it’s only getting better from here, back to where they were before in no time, competing for top tier silverware amongst the big clubs, because they are just that, a big club. To call them a small club is a lamebrain comment which shows lack of understanding of the game, lack of historical context, and lack of common sense.

This isn’t happening - nonsense journalism. For the sake of debate however, the cost of players never comes down to what other clubs think someone is worth. It always comes down to how much the selling club think they will need to spend in order to maintain or improve their squad strength if they lose a player. In this case, the question is can Villa improve with £100M to spend but no Watkins? If Unai doesn’t think so, £100M won’t be enough for Villa to sell. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks he’s worth - it’s end of discussion from a Villa perspective.
