I think, at this point, she needs to get the pressure off. As everyone is saying, some competitions before this one would’ve been great. We also know she knows how to hit when it counts. If she decides to compete an Nationals, I hope she does it for herself and herself alone. We are privileged to see her compete again. She has nothing to prove. She's not ready. People need to accept it and move on. 2 hours of sleep was the day before, so that's not a valid excuse, and covid has been around long enough that people are aware of the measures that they can take to prevent catching it. If catching covid can prevent you from competing, how hard is it to stick to the gym and home, wash hands frequently, and wear an effing mask if you have to go out in public? And flying out of Texas is always iffy in my opinion. I fly out of Houston often enough that I've been on multiple flights where the pilot announces to hold on cause we have to get out of there fast cause storms are coming in quick. Bad weather was in the forecast, and if she can afford to charter a private jet to get where she needed to go she could have afforded to take a loss and schedule a different flight a day earlier and pay for an extra night in a hotel. When you want something bad enough you go out of your way to prepare for it. She didn't, and that does not mean she gets a pass. A ton of other athletes, coaches, and their families managed to get there without the drama, from Texas.

Tbh, whenever I see someone struggle a lot (especially when they normally didn’t in the past), it makes you realize how insanely hard it is to do these skills. And really makes you appreciate when gymnasts can make it look easy and without effort. I really hope she sticks around and tries for 2025 worlds. She just needed more time and more competitions under her belt to get her rhythm back. Such a shame she got sick before winter cup. There was no reason to keep on hyping her comeback so much with statements about representing team USA once more, that she trains a vault starting with C (Cheng), that she can do an Amanar easily etc., since it’s obvious at least to people who know a couple of things about gymnastics that she doesn’t have the endurance to do a full routine especially on bars which needs tons of endurance.
