Hi Phil. I'll be 72 in about 3 1/2 months. I also know the lyrics to just about everything they did. I think "A Hard Day's Night" had their best music. When I was a teenager, I liked them but wasn't a major fan at that time. Interestingly, my mother was a Beatles fan! As I reached my twenties, I realized how amazing their music was and continues to be. I often wonder, if John Lennon had not been murdered whether he would have continued writing and maybe collaborating with Paul, who, by the way, will be 80 next month!

Joseph: I had to laugh at your remark, because whenever I listen carefully and "out of context" to pretty-well ANY Beatles' song I think to myself "This is surely one of the most under-rated of their songs." They were hit machines, and George Harrison had as much writing talent as the other two. The Beatles took over the world in a way never previously equaled, and certainly never to be matched again. It was their combination of charm, elegance, prodigious talent, British cachet, and the era - to say nothing of the guiding hand of one George Martin. The era permitted them to emerge from relative obscurity in a way that is impossible today.

July 1, 2024 was the 60th (I can't believe that time either!) anniversary of the release of "A Hard Day's Night." I remember hearing that title song and the others constantly on the Top 40 radio station then! WQAM (560AM, Miami), that had them interviewed more and earlier than their main competitor (WFUN, 790AM). What a wonderful era that was, although we had a scoundrel, a corrupt bribery person as "leader" who was to get into a far-away, non-important, Third-World country's civil war that was not critical or important enough to lose 58,300 young men (and some women nurses), to only get at-best, a stalemate, and then withdrawal!

''If I fell'' starts with descending chromatic chord that don't make sense if you just play the chords however.. Lennon sings that first line and it all ties together without a single bump which is the work of genius because the underlying chords are so far apart on the circle of 5ths. Just the first intro vocal is stunning and so damn clever. The Beatles music is riddled with unexpected chord changes and utterly sublime melody. This is why their music is studied in almost every music institution in the world. They were just that good:)

Move up to around 1978 and I’m sitting in a health food restaurant on a random trip to New York, asking my friends to let’s leave and go to a real restaurant and who walks In and sits about 2 tables away - John Lennon and Yoko. I felt an almost internal collapse, sat down and said “Oh never mind let’s just stay here”. I sat there and for about an hour - didn’t stare - but kept catching glances and had memories of 1964 and how much I loved them during my magical childhood. I’ve often said that had I known - at 12 yrs old - that years later I would be sitting 2 tables away from John Lennon, I would have sat in my room, refused to go to school, waiting for that trip to New York. 😂

It was a leading part of of the whole 60's vibe...breaking free from what felt like repressive dogmatism. I'll be 75 in a few months, got a guitar when I was 14 and never looked back, (except for musical inspiration). My best to all these wonderful posts. Those were the days when music brought us together.

There are many reasons The Beatles were so successful and one of them is not only was each member capable of fronting a successful band, but each of them have. The fact that they not only kept it together for 10 years but were so inspirational during those years is just something no other band has really done and most likely never will again. We are all fortunate to be alive at a time when we have it all at our fingertips.

THE BEATLES!!!!!! BEST band on the planet🌎. Four lads that shook the world!!!! They will never eveeer be surpassed no matter how hard other bands try. The Beatles started it ALL. Long hair, fashion, unique and beautiful music and more. They never stuck to one type of music like other bands did....they wrote ballads, rock, psychedelic rock. You name it. Michael Williams This was from their movie, and they tried to make it as much like a real performance as they could, minus some of the screaming 😋 They were lip syncing I’m pretty sure, I may be wrong though. I do think they are because if you were to watch the movie, when they are talking the audio sounds much different than when the music starts, and there are instruments in the songs that they aren’t playing, unless Ringo had extra hands 😂
@michaelwilliams95505 жыл бұрын
@@avahermes2143 I think they must have done a take in the studio which was filmed, this was used in the film and these are the shots showing the band from the front, (obviously there are other musicians who are not on camera), the shots showing the back of the band and the audience is footage of them performing live to an audience (but the sound has been replaced by the studio recording). Hope this makes sense, its the only way I can think it was done so that the lips are in sync and also GH guitar playing in sync, which would be almost impossible for him to look faultless. There's something indefinably ecstatic about the vocal harmonies and chordal rhythms of "Tell Me Why" that gives The Beatles that transcendently unique aura.

Agree. Tell Me Why is truly special, even by the Beatles very-lofty standards. Magical & mesmerizing. It's flawless.

I'm not even born yet when this band disbanded yet I know every single line of these three songs. How magical the Beatles was.

How adorable is George's happy dance, he is too sweet & having fun? He just makes me smile and lol, and John had the best lead vocal. Paul is just gorgeous, love his voice too, and Ringo😝🎶🎵🎸💓- a good drummer, nothing fancy, but laid down the timing, and great smile, and he was having fun.😝🎶🎵🎸💓 ( George was my favorite.💜💓😘

Actually, Ringo was a great drummer. Fancier than most people realize.

The joy and freshness of the music (and the film itself) is so wonderful, it beings tears to my eyes. What happened to the world that was depicted in this movie ? How could everything have gone so wrong since those days ? And how could four guys be blessed with so much talent and be so productive that they gave us all that wonderful music in a mere seven-and-a-half years ???!!! Today, it takes most artists three years just to put out ONE album !
