The reliance on an app enables a really unique form factor. The whole setup is whimsy, but I hope the software support outlasts the hardware vs. the other way around.

It will. And I had the same thought before getting one. I've had it for a couple years (the one in this video is first-gen 203 DPI; mine is L1 HD 300 DPI) and even when offline without recent updates, the app and printer work fine. Offline only means l don't get updates; constant server access isn't necessary. Stopping support/updates won't render the app unusable or broken. It only means it won't get updates (which are mainly periodic changes to what clipart is available; you can import your own, of course). I have eight mini printers from five brands at present and this one is the best for continuous tape labels.

Ok I had downloaded the wrong MakeID app. Ugh. But I only would have known this since you showed the pic of your app and I realized it wasn’t the one I had. So I went back to the instructions and used the QR code to locate the proper app.

Hey @Lon your app UI looks different from mine. I’m troubleshooting why my phone can’t find the printer. Bluetooth and location turned on… I’m just trying to use this for the 1st time so I’m going to watch your video again.

i bought one and the app never connects to my phone tried on android and ios , scanned the barcode for the app and nothing happened. Does anyone have a work around??

Hey there! Im using the Android App, but when I print something with a frame it gets cut off on the right. Do you have the same issue?

This one is actually usually around $20 for the model he has; $35 for the HD (300dpi) version. Keep your eyes peeled-I snagged the HD model bundled with three extra tapes for $26 and change (Amazon) two years ago and I still see very good deals periodically. If you don't need wider labels or other features, this is the one I recommend to anyone who asks (and some who don't, lol).
