The Amazon Alexa smart plug is super easy to setup using the Amazon Alexa app and I show you how. Once you get it setup it can be used to control lights and appliances, schedule on and off times, and operate them when you're away from home. That's kind of why I'm here, lol Also when I saw this comic, honestly same reason why I'm subscribing as well, that and I enjoyed watching this at 2:30 in the morning bored in bed searching up Alexa smart plug reviews trying to fall asleep lol. I know this video is years old, and your reply that I'm replying to and this comment is 11 months old, but keep up the good work! I love smart plugs for the holidays lights. My daughter loves telling “A” to turn on the tree, or the holiday lights. I like being able to have items automatically turn off at certain times of the night. Some people have a tendency of falling asleep with everything on till the early morning hours. I have my lights to turn on so many minutes before sunset. It was great before I discovered routines, simply saying “A turn on the lights” when you’re waking in the front door in the dark with arms full of groceries.

These plugs will come in handy if you went out of the house and decided to come back later in the evening. You could just activate the lights and/or TV to make it look like someone was home to throw the burglars and package pirates off.

Hi. I just got this same plug and I can’t figure out how to connect it to my tv so I can tell Alexa to turn on or off. Believe it or not I can tell her to turn it off and it will but not on. I have an insignia Roku tv. TYIA

Great showman what I’m trying to do a song what the hook up one of those end of line longest sinks awake in the water heater thing but what I wanna do is plug that thing into one of those smart receptacles and then use a switch on the wall above the sink so when somebody standing in front of the sink that damn pump will run that’s what I’m trying to do.

I have my Amazon Echo smart plug outlet turn off my router/fibre modem and then back on after 1 minute whenever the internet drops. This autoreset has been a game changer for optimum router performance. Kinda wonder why the modems don’t have this troubleshooting feature built in.

Just some additional info.....The physical on/off is beneficial, However the unplugging /replugging of all connections really completes the "Reset" as it will disburse any static charge that has built up in the machine and really gives you a factory fresh Re-Start. This is especially helpful in Winter months when humidity usually is low and naturally occurring static is high.

Is it possible to command an Amazon plug through Alexa to turn off (or on) in a spoken number of minutes that may be different every time I give the command? ie: Alexa, turn off plug 4 in 23 minutes. Explanation: I plug in my phone every night through an Amazon plug. The phone will say xx minutes until fully charged. I would like the charger to turn off in xx minutes.

Yep, as long as those devices are left powered on they turn on and off as power to the strip is turned on and off.

The plug makes whatever you plug into it “smart.” Not the room, whatever you plug into the smart plug.

Good video, I came here from your logitech vs Ring light webcame video. I was curious if you're still uploading and you are. Keep up the amazing work. You probably explained this. I'm curious as to why you try not to mention "Alexa." You were referring to her by her name on the paper and was waiting for you to say her name when trying to enable lights but nope, you cut off the rest of her name. I'm really curious to why. The only reason I can think of is your video gets copyrighted for saying it?

Lol, yes it is definitely on purpose. For folks that already have a device enabled with Alexa, it would go off everytime I said "Alexa." So whatever command I give mine would also be given to their's, lol! Not trying to turn off anybody's lights at home.

Nope. This actually is an alexa device itself, so all you need is your phone and the alexa app.

Mine gets stuck trying to connect to my Wi-Fi. It just cycles and cycles and eventually kicks out asking me to restart my phone. I did it, and still no go.

Bro, Gadget. I have two sets of lights around the livingroom. In this case they don’t want you to place them close by each other. My problem is I can’t get them to work. I even place them far apart n they still won’t work. What could I do before I drop them! Lolol
