Every job has tools required for success and Executive Protection is no exception. In this video I go through some of the items I have on my person, or in my bag, that agents should consider carrying along with them.
This is by no means a definitive guide, but some of the items are useful and will be used over and over on a daily basis.
At the end of the day, your greats tool and asset is your mind so keep it sharp by constantly learning and honing your craft.
It's not what you carry that ensures your success, but how you carry and prepare yourself when on the job with your client.

A buddy of mine told me I would need something called a "fleshlight" for jobs with a lot of downtime. I dont even know what that is! Can you do a video on what it is and how you would even use it for security?

I carried almost the exact same items. Your Minocular is much nicer though. Because of where and how we worked, i made a habit of keeping a couple ZT's under my belt, just in case.

You're totally correct. We normally have most items in a small carry bag. What is carried on us is minimal.

Tourniquet is pretty much standard along with any EpiPen or allergy remedy for the client. Usually kits are in the car. You are to dress for the occasion, not look super tactical, so bring on your person what's appropriate.

You have to get in the habit of regulating when you eat and what liquids you intake. You can't abandon your post to go pee as you're supposed to be protecting your client. If you're solo, it's a PITA. If you have a partner then you cover for each other. Otherwise, eat foods that keep you full but don't make you use the restroom and drink liquids at appropriate intervals. Shifts are 12 hours long so plan accordingly for your body as you would your client. This does take a toll on your body because you'll have to hold your bowel movements and bladder for long periods of time sometimes. Your client may let you use the sites restroom but it depends on the client.

hi Mr. schwa, i am looking into going into personal and estate protection strait out of high school. i have no police or military experience but the articles i have been reading say it is helpful but not necessary. law enforcement and military are all very important in my family tree and traditions. I want to change things up a bit and try this body guarding stuff. I liked the video very much, have watch several of your others, and subscribe to your channel. I now have come to trust you as a person, just through you videos. so, Mr. Schwa and everyone reading this comment, do you think it is a good idea i get certified and go into this field? also, what are your suggestions for mandatory certification and extra classes to help me move up in the ranks FAST?
@MrSchwa-jz6tb
@MrSchwa-jz6tb 5 жыл бұрын
Coming into EP or Security straight out of highschool will be difficult if not impossible. More than likely you can do unarmed security, or at best be able to carry a shotgun. Laws in your state will vary, so verify legal ages for owning/purchasing/using certain weapons. Get certified in First Aid, CPR/AED and other life saving techniques like how to treat deep cuts or blunt trauma. The field demands long hours so your personal life will suffer. Being "switched on" can take a toll on your mind and body also. Just be mindful of where you live. You will get more action in California, New York and Florida than you will in other parts of the country. Good luck.

Good luck is right, no rooks around right now maybe static ICs. Ok take notes low profile is what worked during the riots. Cell phone has to be cased up in a composite case and RFID. ASP baton, OC spray, 2 USA made blades one fixed and one automatic/assist opening. 2 USA made taclights , 2 CAT-T, 2 Quick Clot, Apple juice pack, Keen or Solomons for footwear. Polarized Sunglasses and a local hat like local sports teams. Handgun if you can in your AO, IWB leather holster, 1 extra mag and Glock 19 is the best way to go for universal mag use and widely available ammo. Lock picks from sparrow and homemade shim/cuff key. Monocular. NV monocular if needed. A good rugged sports watch is fine if you have to charge your watch then you already are losing. Protesters will body bump you and if you are looking like a hard target wearing your belt strapped you will get ‘made and have to use your Coopers Colors and the ‘two and two’ rule of thumb and exfil the AO with the Package/Principal

Payton, life doesn't work that way. No one graduates high school and then with no other experience or education move up the ranks "FAST" in any profession. With only high school, you'd have to be extraordinarily lucky to get into "this body guarding stuff," and if you are that lucky, you will not move up the ranks fast, if at all. I agree with Mr. Schwa. There is zero chance you can leave High School and go straight into bodyguard work. If you are not able, willing, or interested to get experience in the military or law enforcement, then I suggest you graduate high school and become a private security guard. In the meantime exercise seriously and regularly study some sort of martial art/combative. After a few years perhaps you can move from an unarmed uniformed security guard position into nightclub security (bouncer), which is a field which, like LE and military, has propelled some practitioners into EP. Of course, this entire time you need to save your money, because you'll have to pay for a shooting class (say a 3-day course somewhere, with flights, hotel, rental car, weapons, ammo, etc.), a driving class (maybe a 2 or 3 day course somewhere, again with flights, hotel, etc.), and a EMR and/or TCCC course. Of course American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid are the very minimum. Once you have a shooting class, driving class, and some medical, then you'll have to pay for a EP course. At that point, assuming you were liked and respected in your EP course, you should be able to pick up some work from time to time.

Lost all credibility when you pulled out the stun gun. A "Taser" is the one that shoots out metal prongs, not the one you buy for $15 at a gun show from a guy missing half his teeth. Also, aliengear is garbage, you shouldn't be constantly changing your mag placement and messing up your muscle memory. Last, the serpa holster is an excellent way to have an ND. I would do more practical training and research before you make baseless suggestions and possibly get someone hurt. Keep it basic.

Keep in mind when it comes to gear you will not have standard issue equipment in Executive Protection. This is not Law Enforcement where everyone has the same gear. What I have is also not definitive for all EP agents, I mentioned this in the video. With that said, thank you for your observations.
@kbrailsf
@kbrailsf 5 жыл бұрын
@@MrSchwa-jz6tb I appreciate the feedback, I was just providing some of my own. Those stun guns in particular just feel like a very hard pinch and do nothing to subdue a potential threat. you could waste precious seconds messing with that when you could be escalating the use of force continuum effectively and striking hard and, most importantly, effectively to protect yourself and the principal.
@MrSchwa-jz6tb
@MrSchwa-jz6tb 5 жыл бұрын
@@kbrailsf For sure, here in VA you have options between OC spray, baton and stun gun/taser on top of firearma. The client may provide feedback as to what they want carried during the protective detail, they have a heavy say on what does and doesn't go. It's just a tool of the agent which is hopefully not needed.
