Thanks for the great review! Already have one in my arsenal which works great for hair lights and slashes on the background. The fan is indeed a bit loud, but I'll never get the angry look of the sound recorder. Just keep in mind that it indeed needs te be further than 2 meters away from any mic. Great video again!

I was recently looking at buying one of these to replace my Dedolight DLED 7 Bi-Colour (thinking the Forza was heaps brighter)... so was comparing the brightness photometrics again. Because the Forza with the fresnel is 45 degrees at full flood compared to 60 degrees of the Dedo, you would have to move the Forza 60B back to 4.18 metres distance to achieve the same area of coverage as the Dedo at 3 metres. When you do that, the Forza 60B is about 360 Lux (at 5600k) compared to the Dedo at about 290 Lux (at 5600k). Given the Dedo optics are better (and I already have a bunch of accessories) I decided to just stick with the Dedo. This sort of comparison wouldn't be possible without your testing results Andrew, so thanks very much again for your great work. Just thought it was important to mention the brightness comparisons at a matching area of coverage / beam angle.

I wish you would review the "Nanlite Forza 300B"! You could compare it with the "Nanlite Forza 300" daylight model, with its main competitor, the "Aputure 300X", or with a power equivalent conventional lighting fixture : Maybe a 575W HMI Fresnel or a 2Kw Tungsten Fresnel. I love your reviews, they are the best. Thank you for your work!

Very informative video, i was thinking about purchasing one, but then i found out it outputs a lot less than original forza 60, so its probably better to buy the original one with CTO gels. ( And also original forza 60 is cheaper :) ) Keep up the good work!

Thanks for mentioning the difference in output between the Nanlite daylight and bicolor. I agree it's better to use the original with a gel. How do you gel your light? I just attach it to the reflector with gaff tape! Not very professional and it flaps in the wind! Looking for a better way! Thanks!
@cagf2013
@cagf2013 3 жыл бұрын
Depending on how strong the gel is you might actually lose more brightness compared to the 60B - Gelling a daylight LED to tungsten for example can lose a lot of light and sometimes the colour quality is also reduced. Personally I think bi-colour is better

Thanks for this review! I bought a Forza 60B with the Fresnel (which is not crap!) and loved the versatility and even loved the light at 30 percent with no fan when close to mics. I'm wondering if you have thoughts on the 300B? And whether your thoughts have changed to the Forza 500 based on the 600 d Pro and the amazing Fresnel attachment. And also just generally if you prefer a 5600 k LED and the advantage of brightness over the bicolour offerings. Things have changed so much so fast, I feel now is a decent time to buy rather than keep renting. So many questions... But amazing reviews! Thank you!

Thanks Andrew. Obviously Covid19 has and will put back a lot of firmware upgrades for all manufactures but apparently the China written Phone App is going to be superseded by Nantlites USA phone app at some point. Using a separate Wifi box is very 'old school' and vs the Aputure's phone app it makes Nanlite seem almost amateur in comparison. If I'd say anything to Nanlite, it would be start investing in R'n'D in light cooling technology. COB lights are just getting more and more powerful (Aputure 600 soon!!!!) but the technology behind the cooling implementation especially with Nanlite just seems like an afterthought. A noisy light on set is even worse than a noisy DOP!!!!!

Thanks so much forçou reply. At 12:15 you say one would need to invest in something (to avoid spill) but can’t understand (accent). What are you referring to? Also fichou don’t mind? With the fresnel say at 20 degrees how many lux do we have at 4M? Do you have any idea? Or maybe in another words, if you were at dusk at a wedding doing some sunset or twilight photos would this work well (maybe at sunset) with the fresnel at 15/20 degrees?

What is more powerfull light - Forza 60 or Forza 60B ? Nanlite.com say, that Forza 60 can with a reflector at 1 meter 18.000 lux. NanliteUS say 12.000 lux and Forza 60B (by 5600K) 13.000 lux. So what is brighter light by 5600K - Forza 60 or 60B ?

@@gaffergear Thank you. Do you think so or do you know for sure? I really like your work, but in this case it's quite interesting. I logically understand that mono light has more diodes of one color, BUT communication Nanlite did not convince me much (e-shops so far show 12,000 lux, less than the Forza 60B) and a few users have told me that the Forza 60 does not light more than the Forza 60B. I'm looking for some convincing evidence.
