Gail, Xelsis vs Oracle Touch? Was originally looking for a Super automatic and was leaning Gaggia Accademia and then became aware of the Oracle which seems like a great hybrid. Get good auto features with really good shots and milk quality. The Xelsis does have nice features and one touch abilities but how does does the quality of the espresso coming out compare? They are close enough in cost, just want to be happy with the outputs and build quality over the next handful of years. Thanks.

If you're still looking for a Super automatic, i would suggest the Saeco Xelsis. {SM 768X or SM778X} {the SM778X is a bit newer, which claims to have more beverages} {the Sm768X has 21 but 6 of em are under a different language} It is the most easy in maintenance just look up maintenance video's 1 warning of the Gaggia. this uses a Click in Caraffe, which is HELL to clean, since it uses many many Tiny parts, Tiny tubes, and connectors, which all need to be cleaned after usage. Since milk can dry up quite fast in those tubes. Not forgetting that those click systems can fail due them using 2 switches in the machine. most of them have pins to press the correct switch, to say what it is. {milk Caraffe, or water spout} I saw this a few years ago when i wanted my first super automatic, {cannot find the video anymore} it was a video in some strange language, of a error with the Milk Caraffe. The Caraffe was inserted but not detected, and the machine gave loads of errors, that pointed to the Milk circuit. Combined with the Horror of cleaning it i realized that That was the moment i DID NOT want a Click system Milk Caraffe super automatic.

Terra Kaffe - I absolutely love the design, the computer interface, the ease of use, facility with cleaning, the menu of options, and the entire experience as a morning or early afternoon delight on the Terra Kaffe...if the coffee, or espresso, were drinkable. But alas, for all this wonderful autonomous brewer has to offer and with my experimenting with 116 different pulls, I had not even one tasty coffee experience. What did I try? I experimented for four weeks with 6 different QUALITY beans of all different roasts and flavors, 4 different QUALITY types of waters, all 5 grinding levels (and they are continuous, not discrete which is good), almost all the configuration of temperature, the ratio of bean to water, --- nothing was drinkable. So sad, truly. I absolutely love the way this device functions and looks. But, I bought this for a great taste. I love a great tasting espresso with complex flavors and textures or a great cappuccino with delicious variations (I'm an espresso and cappuccino snob, having tasted the best and worst from all over the world). Instead, all the pulls tasted like burnt dirty water with variations of bitterness or sourness added to the burnt dirty water flavor. Yuck. MILK FUNCTION and UTILITIES are THE BEST EVER, however. Now, the milk function is absolutely the BEST experience ever in getting the right froth, temperature, and texture. It is seamless to use and clean. It can deal with different viscosities of milk and milk substitutes to a large degree (but too thick is too thick). This milk frothing/steaming device is vastly superior to any wand or other method I have ever used or tasted. True genius. But I can't keep a coffee making device which makes tasteless and yucky coffee only for the milk ... or can I? No, Terra Kaffe is too large. Terra Kaffe's customer service is amazing. They stuck with me for the four weeks trying to figure out if there was something I could do to make a good cup of coffee with all of its variations. They are helpful, available, kind, patient, understanding, experienced. They understand this is a great device, and they tell me others have made a great espresso on this machine. They wondered if it was just this particular machine. Maybe it is. I would love to try another Terra Kaffe and would go through the efforts to test it out. But after they heard the grinder work as it should (metal blade- one problem for sure), after hearing the timing of the pulls (about 15 seconds - another problem?), after noting temperature seems correct and adjusts with the settings when changed, after sending me a bag of beans for free of their favorite espresso beans (which in my opinion would make an average cup of coffee compared to the 5 other tasty quality beans I tried on Terra Kaffee -packaged in all different pressurized canisters or just roasted beans), and after playing with all the other possible ratios this machine lets you dial (which I absolutely loved- the interface was super good), still the coffee with its reliable beautiful crema, tasted like burnt dirty water with different amounts of bitterness and sourness and NO FLAVORS and minimal texture satisfaction. (Flavors should have been fruity, nutty, complex sweetness, and/or complex dance with sequences of bitterness and roast variations--- no flavors with Terra Kaffe). I'm so sad to make this review. I love this device. Now if they can only figure out the taste. Here are some reasons I think Terra Kaffe in this initial design won't actually produce what is drinkable and tasty. Possibly, coffees exposed to all the plastic under heat and pressure is not good. I don't even store water in plastics anymore. Possibly the pressure applied is not accurate, and I would not know as there is no pressure gauge. Possibly the pre-pressurized portafilter may be another problem not allowing for good pulls as one expert I consulted suggested. Possibly the metal blade for grinding spoils the flavors too. Also, the extractions seemed very fast (less than 15 seconds as indicated from the sounds and production time I could measure). Fix these elements and perhaps it will fix the taste problem. As soon as these are all worked out, NO OTHER ESPRESSO BREWING MACHINE that is automatic will beat it for use, design, ease, cleaning, versatility, and most of all the milk frothing/steaming. And, I am always open to seeing if another Terra Kaffe machine would be different. Thanks, Terra Kaffe for your customer service. I'll miss the machine and your team. Now on to the next attempt at good espresso- the Gaggio Classic Pro which is slightly less expensive, not as easy to use (nothing could be - trust me), and does not have all the cool cleaning features, grinder, and . . . well I'll try. I'm also trying to master the FLAIR manual approach but that is a different learning curve for sure.

What mid range super automatic machine would you recommend for household use with three members in the family? Watching all these videos is just making me confused. I’m looking for something easy less complicated and Easy to maintain with decent Quality coffee.

If the melitta or Siemens were available with USA voltage I would buy those in a heart beat they are superior in form and function. However because of your excellent videos I ended up with the Miele 6350 and am happy. You picks here are spot on these are the best of best available in NA. Thank you, BTW the Miele does 2 scoops in the by pass not one, just FYI.

Hi. Anyone knows what’s the cost of a tune up (send it to a tech to clean/maintain) on these machines?

{Edit sorry misread the post, thought you meant for cleaning kits} That depends when you buy the cleaning kits. I have the Saeco xelsis {more expensive model so i have the spout light and up to 8 profiles}, I buy the cleaning kits when they are 50% off. Those kits last me about a Year. {tube of lubrication oil}. {so i buy em yearly, since you do not need to have multiple kits laying around} The filters are in need of replacement once every 8 months. They normally cost 50 euro, i buy them for 25, and they have everything you need. ------------------- Cleaning the Milk circuit. {i do it every 1.5 months}. Mainly because i am the only user. so at most 3-5 drinks of milk are being used. Not forgetting that i use the steam clean every time after usage, not once a day. --------------------- Most of the cleaning is based on your Coffee usage. How you calculate this: test it for 1 week. {set the first usage date in your calender, Repeating every week {standard cleaning} Write down how much Coffee you drink every day. 1 cup of 20ml Ristretto = 1 cup 1 cup of 400ML Coffee Counts as 1 cup. So every time you hear the grinder grind its 1 cup. ------------------------ Then you divide 500 by the total amount of coffee usage a week. For example: 10 cups a day= 70 cups a week. Meaning you have to Remove the Coffee oil, and re-lubricate the brewing unit every 7 weeks. {have the Calender repeat this. that way you always know when its time to remove the coffee oil and re-lubricate the Unit} ---------------------------- For the Milk circuit, this also depends on your coffee usage: For low usage (5 cups a day) every 1.5 months is fine {or about 6 weeks} but for high usage 10 cups a day you have to do it every month. I also kept the paper box with the Manuals, and use that to store the Coffee oil cleaner tablets, milk circuit sachets, and in the small box that is in that box, i keep the OIL. So i have everything in 1 place, as not to loose it.

as for your issue, that depends on if you're still under warranty, and what machine you have. From what i know from Philips/Saeco, they will Repair it free of charge, {as long as you use the Official cleaning kits, and filters} and are still under warranty. For the other Manufacturers i am not sure
@sigfunaris

Very expensive. I sent mine to whole latte love, they told me it was still in warranty. They asked me to send it via FedEx tracked and insured and that cost me $100, the labor was $150 and the shipping back was $41. Total almost $300 which is almost half of what i paid for the machine. Next time I'll do by myself, not worth it to send for repair/maintaining

@@sigfunaris thanks for the info! Yes, I have a Miele and called the company for a maintenance quote. Just to have it cleaned and greased it would cost me $350, not sure if it included shipping. Replacement parts are also super expensive.
