Gaither Vocal Band (The Love of God) 08-30-09

15 жыл бұрынThe Gaither Vocal Band drew a large crowd at the Oregon State Fair in Salem on August 30, 2009. The new vocal lineup features David Phelps, Wes Hampton, Michael English, Mark Lowry, and (of course) Bill Gaither. On guitar is Kevin Williams, and on keyboard is Gordon Mote (blind award-winning session musician and concert pianist). I believe the drummer is Greg Ritchie.

They obviously have a lot of fun singing together - comedy routines aside...you can tell they enjoy each other - SO good to see!!

I like how Phelps, Williams or Lowry could all do schtick and humor....and there are three (English, Phelps, Hampton) who could belt it out for any song....and No one makes a better straight man that Gaither....in the end music has to have a theatrical side to it....GVB does it all right!

Sure do miss Guy Penrod on this song. The old Prophet Quartet with Big Lew and Roy McNeal were great on this song too.

There are three tenors, so who sings what? (Since there is only two tenor parts, isn't it?)

Elia Taubert usually they’ll sing lead, 1st tenor, 2nd tenor, or baritone, depending on whos leading. :)

David can't be beat on this one. Why do they need the shorter one? Michael can sing lead. Love it when they try to reach David's high notes. They strain; he doesn't. Guy Penrod was fantastic with David on this song.

Olive Young The “shorter one” is Wes Hampton and there’s no strain there. As much as I love David Phelps, Wes Hampton is just as natural a tenor as Phelps.
