This is such a weird bed arrangement for a suite. With a family of four, one kid has to sleep with the parents, which defeats one of the main benefits of having a suite. If it was 2 couples, one person has to sleep in with a couple, which is very weird. If it was 4 single people, again, one person gets a whole room to themselves and the other three are all in one room. So weird. This seems to only work for a family of 3 who sleep in one room and some relative (or I suppose creepy friend) who sleeps in the other room. I just do not understand this at all.
@xDarkTrinityx
@xDarkTrinityx 2 жыл бұрын
Very much agree. Even in the lower end cabins if you wanted to have 2 adult couples, one couple would have to be split into bunk beds while the other gets a queen. I get that they're expecting kids here as well... but as a kids I never minded sharing a bed with my siblings so it does feel weird they went with the bunk bed/fold down bed route when (to me at least) Id rather split a room with my adult friends

These video tours have been great. It's so nice to see neutral or unbiased documentation of the Starcruiser. I had previously seen two different Disney "influencers" tour the Halcyon during the press preview and they were awful. Both were as insincere as the ham actors in the infamous Disney preview video with "Adam Goldberg." One presented it as if it were a "fabulous" vacation with friends, while the other was more forthcoming with it being an hours long preview event, quickly covering what would normally be experienced over the course of two days, however, even he seemed less than knowledgeable of Star Wars lore and faked an emotional experience in the end. I'm still not too impressed with the "dinner theatre" aspect of the experience, but the overall ship, the rooms and amenities actually seem pretty nice. It's not as bad some would have you believe. Does it really matter what the surface transport vessel is made of in real life? Box truck or bus, the interior of the vehicle, what's "front of house" is convincing. I've seen too many clown videos hating on the Starcruiser without actually seeing it first hand. I honestly don't know if I'm personally willing to pay so much for the exclusive experience. I think I'd rather visit Tokyo Disney Resort than spend that much on just two nights of LARPing at Walt Disney World. I suppose I'll add the Starcruiser to Disney "to-do list," but it will be somewhere near the bottom. Aside from the expense and Disney's apparent desire to cater to only a certain demographic, my only other criticism is that both the Starcruiser and Galaxy's Edge still need "plussing" to bring it inline with guest expectations. Maybe within a decade, it'll be the experience we all want it to be.
@brianpatry6362
@brianpatry6362 2 жыл бұрын
The "fake vacation" aspect is because Disney had effectively offered a few VIP influencers a more in-depth preview experience. Whereas they all got invited to a 4-hour press event that abridged the entire storyline, only the VIP ones got to experience day 2 and 3 as you would on a normal stay at the hotel; that initial 4-hour press event simply replaced the activities of their first day.
@david_walker_esq
@david_walker_esq 2 жыл бұрын
@@brianpatry6362 That makes sense. But, I can't believe that one guy is a "VIP." VIP status obviously isn't based on production quality. I'd expect channels like WDW News, Mickey Views, Randomland and even DSNY News to be VIP influencers for Disney, not this over the top ham without an ounce of sincerity. It's pretty sad if that's who Disney considers important and best reflective of their brand.
@brianpatry6362
@brianpatry6362 2 жыл бұрын
@@david_walker_esq Fair. I think they judged based on overall reach for specific demographics (as well as how unlikely the influencer would then be to provide negative criticism). For example, one of the VIPs posts irregularly on KZfaq and doesn't even have a 100K subscribers, but is also a big-name TikToker and Instagrammer. Others were Ordinary Adventures who have lots of subscribers and are popular among the Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney parks KZfaq fandoms, and the same for Molly and Quincy from AllEars. I also noticed the Super Carlin Bros got the VIP treatment, but they're Harry Potter first, Star Wars second. Meanwhile, PCDev and RixFlix, who are openly unbiased in their reviews of theme park stuff in Florida, weren't even allowed to attend the 4-hour event despite always being invited to other theme park media events from Disney.
@david_walker_esq
@david_walker_esq 2 жыл бұрын
@@brianpatry6362 Disney's strategy has the opposite effect on me. The insincere emotional reactions to the mundane and emotional words being expressed without the corresponding emotion by these particular "influencers" culminating in fake tears over the whole experience has only made me lose faith in Disney. However, seeing things like Tom delight over the secret passage connecting the two areas of his suite or the process of opening and closing the view port sell me on the experience. It's too bad Disney doesn't have faith in its own product to allow authentic experiences and unbiased review to promote the Starcruiser.
@brianpatry6362
@brianpatry6362 2 жыл бұрын
@@david_walker_esq I definitely don't disagree with you. It would have cost Disney only the material cost of uneaten food to have invited all of those press people to do the full 3-day experience, as well as would have sold skeptics on the possibility of booking the experience had they seen the unbiased influencers give their negative impressions. Right now, the worst feedback feedback I've seen is Molly from AllEars saying it's not for everyone due to the pricetag, but even she spun it as "that's a week's stay at Disney World instead, depending on the family's needs."

Disney filed a bunch of payments for collimated displays in 2020. Above the window, it looks like there's a space for a projector, pointed to a bigger screen, with a lens in front. The lens means the view looks the same for any angle while giving the perception that things are far away. They use the same technology in flight simulators used for pilot training.

The room looks so much better than I thought it would. The little details really standout. I love the tunnel/ secret entrance between the two rooms. The Galaxy Suite is a very nice size. I am not sure the double shower was a great choice. If there was a divider down the center maybe. But having 2 toilet rooms would have been a better choice. There usually aren’t too many shower emergencies. But more than one potty emergency at the same time is a much more likely scenario. My recommendation would have been 1 shower and 2 toilet rooms!

what's the point of storage if you are only there 2 nights, I wouldn't even unpack my bags for that. I would pay maybe under $2000 for that stay but I still can't see anything from this hotel that warrants a $6000 price tag. For that I would just remodel my family room and make my own version. But I hope you enjoyed the stay.

I bet the view out the window looks _much_ better without every light in the hotel room on! (Just sayin' ✌) Maybe, if you tried turning most of the lights off and then tried catching a glimpse out the view port, you know, because space is dark lol it's just like trying to look outside your windows at home at night, you have to cup your hands around your eyes with your face against the glass to really see anything. Unless you turn the inside lights off. (Just a suggestion.)

Looking it up the couch is similar but the main length of the couch is longer for the Starcruiser and the Incredibles couch doesn't have the tables/storage on either side. It's just a kinda-sorta mid century modern love seat with a piece jutting off the end. There was a separate side table with a small foot rest you could pull out so I guess you could have used it as storage...as long as you didn't put the footrest back.

Thank you for the tour! Oftentimes, designers think silver and gray theme translates to a modern look. This is frankly sterile. The bathrooms don’t provide a tub which isn’t family friendly (just a weird multi-person shower?) Ohhh complimentary Dasani Water? Really? Lol. The lighting is atrocious; could’ve used a dimmer / other hues. Not to mention no pool, room service, or spa service. This is not a ‘luxury’ cruiser. These pods are better examples of future housing for the general populace working off this planet. 😑

@@marionass593 The thing is, I don't want this experience to be forgotten--I want people to remember this as a cautionary tale and learn from the disastrous and disappointing mistakes Disney has made with the Starcruiser. I really want a world-class LARPing adventure, but not like this. A LARP escape room would scratch the itch--if everyone got in costume for two hours, had a themed meal, and then solved a series of thematic puzzles to escape, that would be a great experience.

@@ShalimarX32 : Well, if it’s a real submarine ride, then maybe it’s not so claustrophobic. But if it’s just an interior, windowless room with simulated windows, I could see how some could find it claustrophobic. On real cruises, some folks don’t feel comfortable with interior cabins and they tend to be the cheapest accommodations.
