Wizards and Warriors Channel fantasy animated documentary video series on the lore Warhammer 40k Universe and the Horus Heresy, started with the discussion of how the humanity fared in the 3rd millennium and beyond, how the Emperor started uniting the Humanity and the beginning of the Great Crusade, as Emperor and his sons - the Primarchs use the newly created space marines to bring the Humans together through conquest. They would fight the Xenos, including the Orks and this episode featured the battle of Ullanor against an Orkish Waaagh ( • Warhammer 40k - Start ... ). The Primarchs grew dissatisfied when the militaristic side of the Imperium began waning in importance, and more power was given to normal humans. Many secretly broke the rules made by the Emperor, unknowingly opening themselves to the machinations of the Chaos Gods. While all this was happening, the newly appointed Warmaster, Horus Lupercal, struggled to keep his brothers in check and prove that he was a capable leader - the seeds of chaos were sown ( • Warhammer 40k - Seeds ... ). Horus falls to Chaos due the plots of Erebus, leading to the Burning of Prospero, which was one of the greatest misunderstandings in the history of the Imperium leading to the fall of the Thousands Sons to chaos ( • Horus Falls - WH40k Lo... ). He was now ready to begin the Civil War at Isstvan III ( • Battle of Isstvan III ... ), and the victory there allowed the Traitorous legions to ambush the Loyalists at Isstvan V, leading to the dropsite massacre ( • Dropsite Massacre at I... ). In the aftermath, Horus continued gaining ground, winning the battle of Phall and taking over a large chunk of galaxy.

Small correction, ceramite is naturally grey, or silver. Like plastic, resin, or pewter, funily enough. Blackshields, like the Black Legion later would, paint black on top of the old coat.

While I've never really read about Phall's events from _Shadows of Treachery_ , I do know that its aftermath would affect the psyche of the 4th Legion & that of their Primarch, Perturabo, who would later be convinced to go along with his brother Fulgrim's plan of seeking out and finding the ancient weapons of the Angel Exterminatus..👁️

I remember years ago reading Shadows of Treachery, the book where this battle takes place and picturing the swirling formation of the Imperial Fists fleet as the Iron Warriors crashed into them, this video does a great job bringing it to life! Well done everyone.

I have been diving into the 40k universe for about a year now and I'm loving it. I havent read the horus heresy novels yet but im just curious, in this vid 400k loyalists have died at this point in the conflict, insinuating that there could be easily over a million space marines in all the legions combined at this point in the lore. In the current timeline of the lore, it says that there are 1000 chapters of 1000 SM, that's just about a million SP. Was the Great Crusade really that beefed up on SM back then???

I hope, both because I am biased and because I think it would be cool thematically, that at least one of these major battles of the Horus Heresy involves traitor SM attacking an Imperial world that has no SM support and getting beaten back by the Imperial Guard/Solar Auxiliary. As god-like as the SM are, I feel that they often overshadow everything they take part in.

Shit if ferrus manus didnt get decapitated i STILL would not know which legion is which, even up to their primarchs. honestly easy to see how the iron hands, iron warriors and imperial fists could be confusing to new people. I always end up reminding myself "the iron warriors =astartes cannon fodder/ siege specialists.. And iron hands= quotes vulcan thinking they are quoting ferrus/ adeptus astartes who wanna be tech priests." Other than that??🤷‍

This battle infuriated me so much! As a acting commander on the field, the battle should be concluded before orders from HQ, who aren't on the ground, should be obeyed. However, this battle perfectly reflected IF doctrine, so flavour wise, it was accurate. Just imagine if they managed to take out the Lord of Iron - the assault on terra would have gone so so differently!

@Tigran-Abazyan Most traitors, even most murderers are from within, from immediate family. Generaly the ones that hurt us most are people close to us. Indeed 40K might be a fabricated story to sell plastic figures and tabletop boxes at first glance, but thanks to all those writers and universe builders along the way, the story sounds not so alien or poorly designed at most parts. At least at its core elements it feels true to human insticts and nature. I totaly agree with you on this.

I enjoy this and the sister channels videos. You kept referring to the Imperial Fists as the Iron Fists. The chaos corruption of the traitor legions was not as sudden and detrimental as the video makes it out to me. Word Bearers and the World Eaters definitely dove right in, and the Deathguard would get there too, but that was about it.

Most Traitor legions had loyalist elements, due to the spread out nature of the Great Crusade some elements of the legions were either send on smaller campaigns or garrison duty and largely left on their own. Pretty much saving them from either being eliminated or manipulated. Funnily enough the Iron Warriors seemed to have one of the higher number of loyalist among their ranks.
