About the regular note 20 having a "better display", the reason why the note 20 ultra display looks dimmer is due to the higher refresh rate. if you lock it at 60hz, it should be brighter. higher refresh rates require more power to keep up with the extra processing. The higher the refresh rate, the dimmer the screen will be unless the screen is ultra powerful. It's the same for Gaming monitors. My 144hz LG gaming monitor is way brighter at 60hz compared to it's 144hz setting.

Based on my experience, Super Amoled always turns out to be more saturated and brighter, while the Dynamic Amoled aims for more natural color.

We live in an era where we get 1,000$ plastic phones and 500$ metal and glass phones.... What happened?

Honestly. I love the plastic back on the phones. It reminds me of back in the day when we could freely replace our batteries without $100+ worth of help.

So I've been a Note fan for a long time and I use it as a sketchbook just about every day and I actually noticed in the store that the regular note 20 screen looked better but what really sold it for .e was the flat screen without the rounded off edges. I hated the rounded off edges when drawing on the phone. The only con I have about my choice is the plastic back but I always have it in a case so it wasn't that big of a deal. Plus it does make it lighter in the pocket.

Bruh 30 minute review only about the feel, screen, and camera. Come on couldnt you go over any other interesting features and not spend half an hour for 3 things ffs

2020: premium phone 1300$ 2025: premium phone 2000$

Note 20: over priced Note 20 Ultra: under priced compared to note 20

I could never have cared less about "premium feel" I always protect my 1k phone with a case anyways. I was perfectly happy with removal plastic back.🙄

I would totally purchase the reg. Note 20 for like $700-$800, but not $1000. I actually prefer it to the Ultra due to size, and I really like the flat screen.

Kinda sounds like they’re trying to get customers to ditch the “small” one and go Ultra.

It appears you had more of the bright vertical light in the capture of the picture with the 1x zoom on the Ultra’s camera so it may have been cranking exposure to give more detail of the object you are taking a picture of. Like how phones usually try to prevent silhouetting when you take a picture of someone with the light behind them.

I miss the ultra light plastic phones that were super durable. My S3 was amazing for it's time! It could multi task, split screen, screen mirror, wireless charging with a special back.... all this plus more I'm missing way before people even knew what all that was!

Higher refresh usually dims displays a little that might be why. And the 1080p while it's in 120hz mode. Interesting though.

Maybe the display look is affected by the different glass material. That gorilla glass is tougher to break, so maybe the price of that is a reduced image. Even as slight as that, the gorilla glass is worth it in my opinion.

Just got the note 20 and the retail model does have the thuding plastic back. I personally like a plastic back. I always end up breaking the back glass on my phones

In Europe we get the same old Exynos 990 lol whilst other regions get the SD865 Plus opposed to the regular 865 😂 Yet the price is about the same or more in certain markets, well done Samsung you bunch of geniuses

9:23 my wife and I ran into this same thing although on a whole different level. we were both playing a game on our phones and we noticed that the game looked alot better on my phone. problem is that i have a note 8 and she has a galaxy s 10. we made sure that all settings were set equally within the phone settings and game settings. my phone still blew her phone away as hers continued to display washed out colors

Your screen comparison between the Notes. Question, did you look to see if you had the blue light filter on? The whites should show the same on both devices. Just something else to consider.

Seems to be the same with the qled TV's I got the q70 last year and I chose the q70 because the colors are absolutely beautiful but the higher you go in model the blacker the screen will be the blacks can overpower the rest of the colors or scene of what your watching. I also work for one of the big three phone carriers and the refresh rate is very nice on both devices but the 1300 price is absolutely outrageous the LG v60 is the best 5g phone you can get imo....and the pixel 4a is the best mid/budget phone ..great reviews btw!

One thing I did discover is I thought my Note Ultra screen looked dim, I went to the wallpaper selection app on phone and there's a setting use dark mode for wallpaper. Un click it the screen brightens up nicely

9:04 Looks like the screen on the regular Note was extra bright like it was detecting sunshine, because you can see it starts to dim when you tilt it away from the lights in the ceiling. Maybe that sunshine compensation just didn't activate on the Ultra for some reason. Lastly, could be a production error. Simple as that.

I just got the 20 note, and yes I was surprised at how cheap it felt in my hand. I couldn't believe I spent more than 1000 dollars on this. I recommend getting the ultra a few 300$ more won't hurt

Lew, could the difference in the image on the screen have to do with the enhanced gorilla glass? Perhaps there is a difference in the coating that could cause the image to appear darker or less vivid???

Uhhh at 0:30 and the following few seconds, you can clearly see the retail mode apps and demo mode software/widgets on the devices, meaning these devices are not actual launch devices, meaning the hardware here isn't up to the same standard actual sellable devices are at. Edit: you can also see some form of pre-production text above the Samsung display at 1:44 ish when Lew flips it around. I know it's pre-production as my launch device has no text at all above the Sammy logo. Lew even states they're not retail units starting at 3:13. I can state from experience the retail/launch unit build is considerably better, on both devices. Especially screen quality on the Ultra.
